Not compatible with Zwift

As of firmware v 11 can transmit heart rate via BLE. However, when sending to Zwift app the rate drops from 80-90 to 55-65. Then goes back up to 80-90 as soon as the app is no longer receiving. I reported this to Garmin and their response was "not compatible with Zwift - have to buy the (way more expensive) Fenix 6". Blah. Returning this watch.

Long long battery life

Love this watch! All the features are awesome and easy to use! The battery life is amazing! Been wearing this for 3 weeks now and have yet to recharge it! Still showing 11 days of battery life left! I couldn’t recommend this enough.

I bought this watch for its long battery life under the GPS mode supported by solar charging. The watch took a little getting used to based on the ease of use from my Vivoactive 3 with touch screen swiping. I do runs which can go for 30 hours and hope that this watch will keep running throughout. I wish the Vivoactive 3 had a solar power feature to extend the battery life longer. I don't think the instructions are clear enough on how to use all the features of the watch particularly when starting, stopping, saving and getting back to the time of day. As I said it takes a little time to work with the watch to get used to it.

Must be 13+ to enjoy

I was really excited for my 12 year old to get a fitness watch, especially for Scouts. However you CANNOT use Garmin Connect if you are 12 and there is no way for the parents to override the app. Most 12 year olds are either in 6th or 7th grade and do NOT want a “baby” watch with the “baby” jr app. Garmin needs to update this to allow parents to override it. So we have to return it for an Apple Watch. If you are older than 13, it is an ok watch. I prefer the color screen on the Forerunner or even the Fenix. But for a younger person it was a good choice- too bad the app cannot work for 12 year olds.

Big disappointment

I've had this thing for a couple months now and the solar function is why I purchased this watch. It does not seem to work. When you charge this watch to full capacity it tells you that you have about 190 days worth of use. Every time that you use the GPS/training function, it takes about 27 days off for every hour that you are in your activity. I've spent full days outside in bright sun and have noticed no noticeable increase in the battery life of my watch. With about 10 hours of workout time per week you can expect about 1-2 weeks between charges, which is the exact same as my old Garmin 230.
