Glass top damaged after 2 wks of use

We just purchased this range and the glass top got damaged in a few days. The first scratches occurred for boiling some eggs and further damaged appeared after some boiling water spilled over. We cleaned the stove with the proper cleaner (arrived with the range) but the spots remains. We are trying to schedule a service to see of GE would replace the glass top but cannot get hold of anyone on the automated system and cannot use the website as for some magical reason there is no serial number on the range. We checked everywhere: receipt, behind the door, behind the drawer, pulled the entire thing out-nothing. Extremely frustrated at this point.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
