Modern that’s it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It’s modern looking but that pretty much it. I will never buy touch screen feature again. If I use the oven and steam goes up it changes the settings on the screen above, or when I’m cleaning the top. I have to be careful to not turn anything when spraying. The nobs are much better. I don’t like the steam clean function. It’s not good. I still need to use oven cleaner to actually clean the oven. I can’t imagine what would happen if I wasn’t careful about maintaining it clean. Steam clean is good for people who don’t use the oven for cooking.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not Worth It
on November 13, 2025

Had it for less than two years, and it died. Absolute waste of money. Buyer beware. When it worked, the controls were twitchy, would sometimes turn on multiple burners that were not activated, and would lock or become unresponsive when turned on.

We’re sorry to hear your range isn’t working, and you’ve had some issues with the controls. We want to help. If the range doesn’t appear to have power at all, we recommend disconnecting it from power for a couple of minutes before reconnecting, to reset it. Troubleshooting regarding what to try if the unit doesn’t appear to have power, and for an issue with the surface units not working properly, is available on page 27 of the manual; that’s linked here: https://products-salsify.geappliances.com/image/upload/s--fjNKdJO2--/xylbh8mtk9dtzlzqbc62.pdf.
Information regarding locking the controls is available on page 11 of the manual. The controls can be locked or unlocked by pressing and holding the Lock Controls pad for three seconds.
If you’re not able to solve this with troubleshooting, our Bodewell service team is available at 833-426-3393. They are open Monday – Friday, 8AM – 8PM ET, and an appointment can also be scheduled online at this link: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm

DANGEROUS CONTROLS!!!

I really want to love this range and I do really like it other than the controls are dangerous. I have owned this range for about a year and a half and have tried to burn the house down with it more than once. At first, we laughed at me for being an overweight oaf and turning on or adjusting burners with my belly but it stopped being funny when others started doing it and damage started being done to non-cookware items sitting on the stovetop. Being a professional techie, I was excited about the touch controls and the app integration then I found out how few things could be done with the app and how dangerous the touch controls are. I know there’s a lock, but that’s all or nothing so while cooking, a misplaced hand or even a cookware lid and whoops, an unexpected burner is on. We have found a couple things that can be used as covers to stop the controls from accidentally activating but I am honestly at the point where I’m ready to eat the cost of this and find something new.

Our ranges are manufactured in accordance with and certified to all applicable third-party safety standards. We encourage you to use the control Lock feature as needed. According to the safety instructions in the Owner's Manual - we do not recommend placing or storing items that can melt or catch fire on the glass cooktop, even when it is not being used. If the cooktop is inadvertently turned on, they may ignite.

Delivered timely. New cord installed. Plugged in, started up, ran for 20 seconds and shut off. Would not come back on. Unplugged it, started again, ran 20 seconds and shut off. Refused delivery and returned to store. Looking for a different product.

Beware

Would never have bought this range because of the following. First, you can not use aluminum foil broiler pans because the oven will shut off do to the broiler overheating. Never had an issue with prior ranges. The GE service rep said that this is normal and should only use non-shinny broiler pans. Second the steam cleaning feature is worthless. It does NOT clean the oven. You have to use elbow grease to get it clean. Again, beware of this range, I would not recommend it.

Hello there,
Thanks so much for taking the time to share how things are going with your range, though we're very sorry to hear you're not fully pleased with the unit. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and will be considered by our product design team.
When it comes to the steam clean, spillage of marinades, fruit juices, tomato sauces and basting liquids containing acids may cause discoloration and should be wiped up immediately. Let hot surfaces cool off, then clean and rinse.
Your satisfaction is our top priority and by sharing your experience, it helps us to better understand how to serve your appliance needs. Thank you again. Best wishes. - Tierra@GEAppliances

Disappointed

I had a GE convection oven for 20+ years and it was a great oven. So when getting a new oven, I decided to stick with GE. But this oven is not the same quality. Very disappointed. Although it has great features, there is no self clean, only steam clean. Steam clean does not work as well as self clean. If you get any baked on grease it does not come off. So you have to manually clean the oven and racks. My oven wasn't that dirty either. I had only used oven itself maybe a dozen times. So this feature needs to be used immediately after you notice any residue inside the oven, once it's baked on its will not come off with steam clean because the temp is not high like in self clean to burn it off. This could be stated in manual to use it frequently or as soon as you notice any residue for best results. My old GE convection with class cooktop had self clean and it cleaned it perfectly every time. I do not understand why GE would make an oven at this level with no self clean.

I am surprisingly disappointed.

The Range cooking surface scratches too easily and there is a noticeable defect in the molding strip along the top of the control panel. I have been using GE products for over fourty years because of the quality and performance. For what I paid for this range, I expected more.

Not self cleaning

I bought this model last summer and planned to clean the oven today. It has a steam clean button, and I ASSUMED (my fault) that there was another selection for self-clean when steam clean was selected. I had to go online to find the manual and learn that not only there is no a self-clean feature but also one may not use an oven cleaner or sponge. Soap and water or vinegar and water must be used. What engineer designed that? Whoever s/he is, I’d like to invite them to my house to clean up the horrendous, baked-on oven spill I’m dealing with! This was not an inexpensive range.

Hi there - We're very sorry to learn you're not completely satisfied with the cleaning feature of your range. These methods have been tested thoroughly and we're sure that it will remove the spill inside your oven. We hope you are enjoying all the other features of this model and we want to thank you for being part of our GE Appliances family. Please let us know if you have additional questions. -Kacie@GEA
