WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE!

Bought this new stove after renovating our modern kitchen. Did some research and decided to purchase a GE range again as most of our items are GE. Went with the new slick design having controls on the front. WHAT A MISTAKE…….. First issue we had was, we woke up one morning to the front glass controls completely exploding and little shards of glass all over my kitchen…across into my dining room. Nothing touched it, nothing was around it. The night we went to bed it was fine. For weeks we found pieces of glass in the toaster, and around the living room, around the kitchen. Customer service never could explain what had happened or give us a reason. After hours on the phone trying to organize a technician to come and take a look at this crime scene, and countless hours of me trying to find on my own a licensed GE technician to come and look and order the part as GE did not really assist or even try to push me in the write direction, we found a tech that ordered the replacement part. (The technician/company said in all these years of service had never seen anything quite like what had happened.) After waiting for the new part to arrive and being without a stove for the winter and about 1.5 months with a newborn we finally received the part and had it fixed. Never during this time did anyone reach out to me from GE, after I left messages and tried to get an explanation on what may of caused it. Thank goodness my baby was not in his high chair eating next to this unit when it occurred. Now jump forward this week… about 6 months later out of warranty period of course. There is a crack again in my control glass front, not sure what caused it but starting to slowly lose shards of glass every time to you walk by it. Keep in mind this front control panel controls everything so its not like you can use elements or the oven, nothing. Looks like Christmas again with no working oven… Crazy to think you spend all this money only to do it again another year later… WHAT A TERRIBLE DESIGN! ESPECIALLY FROM ONE OF THE LEADERS IN APPLIANCES. I CANNOT TELL YOU TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS MODEL ENOUGH. BUY SOMETHING ELSE OR BUY ONE WHERE THE CONTROLS ARE AT THE BACK AWAY FROM ANYHTING. THIS UNIT HAS A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW, AND I WISH I KNEW THAT AND COULD GET SOMETHING ELSE

Delivered timely. New cord installed. Plugged in, started up, ran for 20 seconds and shut off. Would not come back on. Unplugged it, started again, ran 20 seconds and shut off. Refused delivery and returned to store. Looking for a different product.

Beware

Would never have bought this range because of the following. First, you can not use aluminum foil broiler pans because the oven will shut off do to the broiler overheating. Never had an issue with prior ranges. The GE service rep said that this is normal and should only use non-shinny broiler pans. Second the steam cleaning feature is worthless. It does NOT clean the oven. You have to use elbow grease to get it clean. Again, beware of this range, I would not recommend it.

Hello there,
Thanks so much for taking the time to share how things are going with your range, though we're very sorry to hear you're not fully pleased with the unit. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and will be considered by our product design team.
When it comes to the steam clean, spillage of marinades, fruit juices, tomato sauces and basting liquids containing acids may cause discoloration and should be wiped up immediately. Let hot surfaces cool off, then clean and rinse.
Your satisfaction is our top priority and by sharing your experience, it helps us to better understand how to serve your appliance needs. Thank you again. Best wishes. - Tierra@GEAppliances

I am surprisingly disappointed.

The Range cooking surface scratches too easily and there is a noticeable defect in the molding strip along the top of the control panel. I have been using GE products for over fourty years because of the quality and performance. For what I paid for this range, I expected more.

Not self cleaning

I bought this model last summer and planned to clean the oven today. It has a steam clean button, and I ASSUMED (my fault) that there was another selection for self-clean when steam clean was selected. I had to go online to find the manual and learn that not only there is no a self-clean feature but also one may not use an oven cleaner or sponge. Soap and water or vinegar and water must be used. What engineer designed that? Whoever s/he is, I’d like to invite them to my house to clean up the horrendous, baked-on oven spill I’m dealing with! This was not an inexpensive range.

Love the temperature probe for the oven

A bit leery to give more stars than 2. Just got the stove 2 days ago. I did notice some pitting in the glass cooktop. Just in a few spots. Used it yesterday for the first time and the burner is already scratched and you can see a circle where the pot was. I used the cleaner and a glass cooktop scrubber. It is not burned on food. I liked the way the burners performed but had an older model and the glass cooktop is still perfect. Tried to add pics but was not able to.

Disappointed

I had a GE convection oven for 20+ years and it was a great oven. So when getting a new oven, I decided to stick with GE. But this oven is not the same quality. Very disappointed. Although it has great features, there is no self clean, only steam clean. Steam clean does not work as well as self clean. If you get any baked on grease it does not come off. So you have to manually clean the oven and racks. My oven wasn't that dirty either. I had only used oven itself maybe a dozen times. So this feature needs to be used immediately after you notice any residue inside the oven, once it's baked on its will not come off with steam clean because the temp is not high like in self clean to burn it off. This could be stated in manual to use it frequently or as soon as you notice any residue for best results. My old GE convection with class cooktop had self clean and it cleaned it perfectly every time. I do not understand why GE would make an oven at this level with no self clean.
