Purchased this for our 3-4 year old granddaughter. She has always loved playing with wooden train sets but has never had one at home. This set filled the bill perfectly. It has some excellent components, such as the cranes, that really add to the fun and interactivity. Very happy with the purchase.

Love Melissa and Doug toys, but this isn’t it! The train has two levels held up by rickety little blocks that do not click in. It is extremely fragile to build and then you cannot play the trains on the tracks once erected. I’m not sure I get it.

I purchased this for my grandson last Christmas. He had just turned two. He is at my house several times a week and there has not been a time that he has been here that he has not played with his train. He has a set at his house made by another company with battery operated trains and he has no interest in that set at all. Another nice thing is that he can use other trains on his set, as well as some cars and trucks! Melissa and Doug spurs his imagination. I am sure I will be purchasing more add-ons this Christmas.
Pros: Durable, Easy Assembly, Entertaining, Fun, Great Value, Interactive, Realistic
Cons: Blocks don't stay put

Frustrating For Kids

My 4 year old grandson loves to play with this, however elevated pieces are very unstable. He keeps calling someone over to help him put the tracks back together. Not particularly good for young children.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
