Purchased after reading wirecutter review, gorgeous looking fan, sadly, rattles upon start up until at speed and rattles after turn off until at full stop, am too irritated to look into it, also, feel the low speed is too fast and the fan itself a bit large for intended use, but that is my problem…

It’s a really nice fan. But it vibrates and makes a terrible noise while running. I can’t leave it on at night because it’ll keep me awake.

I first bought a,silver swan about ten years ago, I was so taken back by it beautiful presence. Since then I must have purchased at least 20 more over the years including the alchemy versions and the smaller silver swans . I have several homes and I can honestly say I have no less than 4 of these fan in each of my houses. I have also given them as gifts, which always goes over extremely well. The construction and pure art deco design is gorgeous. This fan is on display in the summer winter fall and spring because it's just beautiful to look at. Thank you guys for manufacturing a product in this day and age that only gets better with age. Its truly a masterpiece of quality and design , please dont ever discontinue this product because i plan on giving more as gifts and buying another house, so I will need to buy a few more. Thank you

A Nostalgic Work of Art

This is a beautifully made fan that exhibits the quality of fans you grew up with in the forties, fifties and early sixties but with safety in mind. The only difference from the fans in the past is you cannot stick your hand or fingers through the guard. All heavier metal construction including the blades. The only plastic on the unit is the control knobs and decorative guard ring. The fan is very powerful for a 12 inch model. It moves copious amounts of air and is very quiet on low. As you increase speed there is more noise but not bad for a fan moving this amount of air. It oscillates quietly and smoothly. This fan is very expensive but it is actually more than just a fan. It is a quality decorative accessory that should be displayed and not hidden out of the way. It is expensive but it looks expensive. If you are looking for a fan that reminds you of the past and also is very good looking, this is your fan. Nothing cheap with this fan and it shows. I might also mention Vornado Customer Service is great.

Cons: Pricey / Poor Value

My parents bought me this in 1999. It still works today as it did then. I just have to take the grill off - follow the instructions - every few months to clean the dust off. This is one of the few items I own that I can rely on. 18 years and still works like new. Lasted through teenage years, college, to adulthood.

I bought this fan a a gift to myself, I have not been disappointed. Love this fan, love the retro look. But it is not just the "looks", it is also the material it is made of...it pushes the air across the room and cools it. The quality is excellent! I currently have 5 Vornado fans and during the summer they are running all day, from high to low. They are all different models and they are worth every penny. I really wish the Alchemy fans had metal blades, if it did I would have added that to my collection. Thank you for making such a great product.
