Awesome-Sauce

There are many words and phrases I could use to describe how awesome this set is, but I feel like many other reviewers have already said and expressed how awesome this set is. Building it was such a fun experience and I am looking forward to building another grand set. My only complaint is that the box was damaged in the corner and there was large tear down the middle of the box from shipping. I did want to preserve the box because it is another cool part about this set. However, I am still choosing to give this set 5 stars because it truly is a master piece and gave me a fun building experience.

I was never able to own any LEGO pirate sets, but when I say the LEGO Idea online I voted for this and was over the moon excited to see the revised version with hidden throwbacks to original pirate sets!
It makes me feel like I own multiple pirates sets in one!
It was so much fun to build and look at. I love how large it is and the whole idea in general! Plus, no stickers!

YoHo, LeGo, a pirates set for me!!!

When I first saw this set, I didn't like it. For the last couple of months, I avoided this set, even though I love lego pirates. I was at a Store in San Diego,and I bought it on an impulse buy, because I had been eying it the last couple of days. When I bought it, I kept doubting myself on my choice. And when I finally built it, I realized that I was an idiot. This set is awesome!!! I have only had it built for a day, and already it has been totally worth it. The island is a beautiful display peice, abd I haven't even built the ship yet. Plus, the art on the instructions and box are some of the best I have ever seen, and the callbacks are great. My advice is to trust lego, and its designers, even if you have doubts. And buy this set, because it is a beautiful homage to the original pirates sets, and it rocks!!!

This is a BIG set

I love this set so much, I’ve been waiting so long for another set to do with the Pirates theme. This did not disappoint. There are several minifigs and it isn’t difficult to change it from a shipwreck to the actual ship. I definitely feel like it was well worth the money and I hope they do something else involving the pirates soon.

An homage to my best childhood LEGO memories

Growing up, The Black Seas Barracuda (1989) was my favorite LEGO set—I built, rebuilt, and imagined adventures with it for probably hundreds of hours. This set is a throwback to those days, laden with all sorts of subtle details and parts from the original pirate series while updating the ship’s construction and the crew’s storyline for builders young and old today. The set is doubly enhanced by the ability to build two versions of the ship’s story—as a shipwreck, or as an intact vessel. There are ample detailed minifigures and sub constructions throughout. The best set I’ve bought in many years!

Amazing experience

I love all the hidden details in the build. It’s a great throwback to the original LEGOLAND Barracuda pirate ship. My only complaint about this product is how difficult it was to convert it from the shipwreck to the actual ship. But that doesn’t change my thought about this set. It’s not only a fun play set it is a really good display price that would look good on anyone’s shelf. It’s one of my favorite LEGO sets in my collection, and I would not hesitate to recommend this to a friend.

The perfect set

Easily the largest and most complex set I've ever done! Absolutely beautiful and detailed, with some unique build techniques. My only critique is that some of the details are hidden inside when displayed as a model.

This set takes me back to my Lego Pirate days with my cousins and brothers! We had all the islander sets and many of the pirate sets, though we only had two of the tallships (Skull's Eye Schooner and Redbeard's Runner)... Forget those filthy imperials... The freedom of pirates on the high seas was our thing. This set is a great mix of ship and island! The build was fun and has a lot of the old ship building elements with a few new techniques. Great as a solo build or with family. My son constantly asks me to pull out "the old boats and bits" so we can build the original designs or build our MOCs. He was more than thrilled when this behemoth set arrived! All in, this is a fantastic set! I might recommend buying two so you have the best ship so far and the extras to beef the island up while Captain Redbeard is out in his newly upgraded Barracuda!
