Quite possibly the greatest pirate set ever

Pirates is just one theme that always pops into my mind when I think about classic Lego. And oh my, talk about nostalgia. As someone who has a soft spot for pirate sets from the 90's, I'll probably end up buying a second one of these. The box is an amazing throwback and the sunset colors work perfectly in the background. The set is a very fun build and at no point felt like a chore. There are so many little references to old sets such as the islander figure head, and older captain Redbeard and many more. Whether you want it in the form of an island or ship, both make for an amazing display.
I would recommend this to a friend!

My favorite set!!!

I must admit, when I first saw this set I was extremely disappointed. It looked nothing like the amazing pirate island that I had been waiting for since it’s approval on LEGO Ideas! However, as I explored the set more, I found it could turn into a pirate ship?! I couldn’t believe it! Of course it is missing Bricky_Brick’s amazing secret passages, and imperial soldiers, but other than that this set is beautiful and is definitely my all time favorite! The ship is amazingly detailed and I love functionality of the capstan and the round shape of the vessel. I also enjoyed seeing the similarity of the new minifigs and the original Pirates! My dad had the original Barracuda and I grew up playing with his old pieces, and the designers did a great job recreating them! Now, when will LEGO release an imperial ship or fort to fight them…

This set is packed with fun details and surprises. It's amazing. If you have this on display it will be a big eye catcher; and if you play with it, it will provide hours of entertainment. You definitely get what you pay for in this set! Lego spared no expense on this set.

lot of fun, lot of pieces

Great product almost exactly like the one I remember having as a kid, expect for the island that is new. I love the ship and the mini action figures and all the accessories that come with them like the forgotten vintage guns and actual shooting canons. I did get bored of the island but they gave a lot of pieces so I have a lot of fun redesigning it over and over again. I would recommend this product to anyone, beginners or experinced.

I voted on this set as a lego idea and waited forever for this set to come out. I love it and my kids love it! We started tracking down more ships to add to our fun after this. Hope they make more like this!

My son saved up and bought this. He spent about a week building it with minimal help from parents. The Minifigs are fun, it's got great animals and some cool building techniques.

Great Set

Almost everything is great about this set. It looks amazing once built…it’s very unique…it’s a good value for the price…there’s no stickers…it comes with 8 characters, a rowboat, a shark, a pig and a couple of birds…and there’s lots of cool features in this build. Pretty much the only negative to this set is that a couple of the rooms are near to impossible to be able to play in with the figures (hence only 4 stars for playability). This doesn’t even affect me since I’m grown and only build for the purpose of displaying. I had no issues with this set…directions were clear and there were no missing pieces. I probably won’t ever turn it into the intact ship as I prefer the shipwreck version, but it’s a cool option to have. Definitely get this if you’ve been on the fence about it. LEGO did an impressive job with this one.
