Pirate Paradise!

This set has been the most enjoyable build that I can remember! The small details are absolutely incredible, from the hidden frogs and coral, the captains chair being designed for a peg leg, to the rudder being used as a door. The original idea set had a front hull that faced straight out and you can fit the row boat on the left side to emulate it, and it fits like it was supposed to be there even though there are no pictures recommending to do that, the rocks there even work as a boat launch in that position. Growing up my favorite themes were pirates and castles, and this theme pretty much bridges the 2. The only way I could see for this set to be any better is if it would have included the original parrot, monke, and some of the gold coins (ideally all 30s to commemorate the anniversary), but thats me nit picking. I'm hoping lego makes more pirate and or call back sets in the future, maybe a yearly one like they do with the Christmas sets if they don't want to commit to a full theme.

So Happy I Went For This One !...

I like pirates, and grew up with the original Pirate theme when I was young. Grew up in Europe with a hardworking dad who could not afford buying expensive Lego sets for his youngest son; and I'm now totally fine with that.
I make a good living and made up for what my dad could never afford to do for me;... I buy lots of Lego sets and mostly bigger ones (The Colosseum is being "eyed" as well...).
I loved it when Lego started doing the Pirates of the Caribbean sets, and bought all the three ships of the series. Knowing this set goes back to how it all started; I was very interested, but thought the price a little high, and the images made it look "messy"...
Take it from me; if you like Pirates, can afford to do so, and love to get big smiles while you're building, THIS SET IS IT FOR YOU !
The island setting is awesome, gets bigger while you build and you will be in awe. Nice to see the original "crew" back to life,... with some "age adjustments". There is a fair amount of animals hiding in it, and of course there is Pirate Booty on the island as well;... but I won't tell you where.
The woodwork is cleverly done and the ship is gorgeous. There is lots to discover and I see new things all the time.

I believe that this is the perfect set for anyone willing to take on the long 6-8 hour build time. The only thing I have to say about it that isn't positive is that one piece some how was switched with a black mini-fig head, other than that though, it is an amazing set and I would strongly recommend it for all.
The build of it, although not especially hard does take a long time. I have gotten this set just after I got the brick bounty, set 70413, and I have to say that the Pirates of Barracuda bay set is vastly superior in every way.

It’s a pirate ship. They haven’t released a non Disney pirate ship in years. The detail is amazing. It doubles as an island. The book has a section on two additional alternates. I want a second set so I can display both versions at the same time. I can’t keep my kids hand off of it

Pirate Adventure!

What a great set!! Growing up Pirate themed Lego were the primary sets I had. Despite my reservations about the cost, when I saw this set I knew that I had to have it. It was such a fun build and such a great set that I bought a second one so that I could have the island and the ship at the same time. This set has rekindled my love of Lego and I have found the pieces for and reassembled my 30 year old Pirate sets too. Thank you Lego for releasing this set and I hope that you issue more Pirate, Islanders and Imperial Soldiers sets in the future!!

Welcome Back To Your Childhood

What a great time. Thank you for making this set. Spread over two island halves this masterpiece brings together the Robinson Crusoe tales and cast away scenes from my favorite films, with the pirates line from the 90s and a really eye catching ship! I want to get another one so I can have the ship and the shipwreck beside one another.
