Uber Awesome - Exceeds My High Expectations

I have used Braun electric shavers daily for the last 25 years and Remingtons before that. My Braun Series 7 sideburn trimmer broke this past week when I replaced the head so I was able to compare the two head to head. Braun 7 with a new foil head versus Series 9 Pro. The 9 Pro was a major improvement to the already fine Series 7 with a new head. I was amazed at the major difference of closeness of the shave and how efficient it was in requiring fewer passes to get a close shave. The shave with the Series 9 Pro was every bit as close as shaving with my Merzur safety razor. The new head design design on the Series 9 is clearly better plus there is a new feature that works really well. The head can be locked in a fixed position or used in in a pivoting position. The instructions recommend the fixed head position for your neck and cheeks. While the pivoting head works well under your nose and on your chin. The pop up sideburn trimmer has been relocated to the rear of the shaver which is a much better location than on the front of the shaver. The new charging case is wonderful for traveling on extended trips. I am amazed at the dramatic improvement of the Braun Series 9 Pro over my previous Braun Series 7. The shaver is a beautiful example of high quality German Design, German Engineering, and German manufacturing. Yes it is made in Germany which I much prefer over Chinese mediocre manufacturing. I highly recommend the Braun Series 9 Pro.

I've only had the 9Pro for a few days and I'm pleased with it. The only complaint is the owner's manuals leave a lot to be desired. Some verbal explanation of the hieroglyphics would have been helpful as I had to muddle through some images

Crap build quality

I bought this razor off the back of having a previous Braun razor that was bulletproof. The thing had lasted for years. I felt comfortable with the hefty price tag for this product because of the quality of the previous razor. I have babied this device. It lives in either the power case or on the cleaning/charging dock. Please see the attached images. It has never been dropped, is not scratched, and, as I said, has been babied.
The build quality of this Series 9 Pro has not lived up to the level set by the less expensive model I had previously. I have had to send the device in twice when the power button fell off. It just fell off.... FOR A THIRD TIME. This is beyond frustrating.
I have spoken with friends who have other devices from other manufacturers that cost a fraction of the price, and they have not had issues like this. Some of them are quite a bit older as well.

Disappointed

I got this for Christmas last year. I have had a Braun shaver for years and it worked well. This shaver does not shave close under the chin without persistent and long effort. I wish I didn't throw my old one away. I also don't like to have to pay the high prices for the cleaning cartridges, the stuff evaporates.

Buyer Beware! think about overall cost...

5 main gripes and none of these features are beneficial (vs. old wet / dry models) to the consumer. increase cost of ownership and earlier product replacement to benefit of P&G / Procter & Gamble: 1) The new model only works cordless. it will not work corded… For the times you forgot to charge the shaver the day before and are in a rush in the morning, good luck! When contacted Braun customer service about it, a smug reply said since it can be used wet and dry, they disabled the corded operation!!! My old Series 720S-3 model (and ever Series 5) were all designed to be used wet and dry. So when battery ages fast, the shaver is dead or need expensive service to replace the battery, this 'enhancement' does nothing for the consumer. 2) the protective plastic cap that was handy to protect the blade is gone. This was handy to just leave the shaver charging on the counter while blade is protected. Now, one has to use the ugly, enormous cleaning station just to keep the blade protected. 3) the gigantic cleaning station is an expensive gadget that occupies premium real estate space on the bathroom counter top (competing with sonic toothbrush, curlers and what not… while trying to keep the place looking tidy!). Instead, I prefer to just use the brush to clean and apply shaver saver lubricant spray which also disinfects and makes the shaver feel as new for the next shave. 4) the on / off button is located higher on S9, right where my thumb falls when holding the shaver. This accidentally turns off the shaver in the middle of the shave. With S7 and S8, this accidental turning off just did not happen! 5) finally, the most important factor being the closeness of shave. I just can not get that same closeness of shave as with my good old S7. Besides, the replacement blade on this model is twice the cost!!!
I was so confident of Braun when I purchased, I threw the box away. Then, hugely disappointed with the 'enhancement' gimmicks and worse from the shallow custom service. In summary, I am so glad of Costco return policy that I was able to return it without the box.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

While our C&C Station is designed so that your shaver can get a thorough clean, you're certainly welcome to clean your shaver manually if your prefer. Make sure to follow the manual cleaning guidelines in your user manual. As well, we don't recommend using a non-Braun cleaning solution to clean your shaver. Braun Pro 9 series

I bought this in September 22. I had been using a Norelco for 25yrs +_ ,so I thought I would give the Braun a try. All the reviews say it's a great razor. Let me tell you it doe's not compare with the Norelco. I truly gave it a chance. Its been 8 months. It's slower than the Norelco, noisier and leaves hairs behind. I have to clean up my face every 2-3 days with a hand razor. I am extremely disappointed, and am ready to buy another Norelco.

As someone who has used electric shavers for over 25 years, it saddens us that you're not a fan of our Series 9 Pro 9477cc. It's designed to capture virtually every hair, but while it may take time for your skin to adjust to the new shaver, it shouldn't be 8 months. While we're sure you already know these tips and tricks, we suggest first making sure the blade is clean from debris. After you made sure of that, taut the skin, hold the shaver at a right angle, and shave against the grain, moving the razor in multiple directions if need be. Not bad not the best

I bought this almost a month ago, it’s a great design feels well made. But it does leave hairs here and there and the biggest downfall is the sideburn trimmers. The side burn trimmers are next to useless as they do absolutely nothing. I’ve had dollar store trimmers work better. Not what you expect with the price of this razor.
