I read the reviews good and bad, and then the reviewers who read the bad and still purchased, and I'm with them. Yes it runs hot. Every cooking appliance has a learning curve. Some things you have to keep an eye on, you cook at a lower temp and/or for less time. I didn't find the sides of the unit getting overly hot or putting out so much heat. I had a basket air fryer that I was satisfied with and a toaster oven that was junk. I saw this item, replacing both items and saving counter space, plus Kohl's had a good price on the copper front, which looks stately but subdued on our small counter space. Tonight I reheated some great takeout fried chicken and sides in six minutes just on warm and convection bake without burning or overcooking anything, much better than in a microwave. I've made roasted brussel sprouts five different ways, from grill to stovetop to oven, and this oven was by far the best, and the shortest cooking time, like 10-12 minutes, nicely charred outside, tender inside. I like the flat fryer tray for fries, and they cook evenly without turning. My wife toasts bread and a frozen veggie burger together in a few minutes, both come out fine. Downsides: you can't air fry larger pieces of chicken--you can convection bake but the spatter can burn on the cooking elements. Better with just bake. This doesn't have an indicator when the desired temp is reached, and I think that's the main flaw. But I love the options of convection bake and broil or regular bake and broil, you can do half and half even; the reversible shelf low or high, and two levels to put the shelf or the pan. Lots of flexibility there. I've never had a toaster oven that I thought really did well with toast, but we've just decided we can also lose our four-slice toaster, as I've toasted bread, English muffins and bagels (on broil) with good results. And it's big enough to put in a dinner plate, as I did tonight to reheat that chicken. The more ways we find to use this appliance, the more we like it. Haven't done chicken wings yet, but my wife makes delicious Asian wings and that's next--can't wait to try it.

I love this oven because I air fry sliced potatoes everyday to make oil free French fries. My husband uses it to toast his bagels in the morning. You can bake potatoes in too. The possibilities are endless. I love the stainless steal retro design.

Love this oven - use it almost every day. I'm especially pleased with the air fryer. Don't let other reviewers complaints of the oven being too hot deter you from purchasing it. Just use common sense and adjust your baking/air frying time accordingly.

This OVEN is a great appliance. It is spacious and cooks VERY QUICKLY. That being said - it is very large and takes up a good amount of space. *ALSO disregard every cooking instruction in the manual - I burnt many things before realizing this.. never turn it up beyond 350 degrees.
