Toxic coating smelled horrible, made us sick

We have chemical sensitivity in our family, and researched thoroughly to find an air fryer without a non-stick coating on the cooking surfaces. We were excited to find this option. However, Cuisanart extensively coats other surfaces in the oven with it, and the smell was terrible. Worse yet, it tainted the food, and my wife and son both got sick. He had more of the food than she did. They both woke up the next morning with symptoms like a virus or flu. She got better in a day, and he didn’t, so we went to the doctor. Without mentioning the air fryer, the doctor said it’s as if our son was poisoned by a chemical (negative strep test, symptoms didn’t match the flu). That’s when we connected the dots. Luckily, our son recovered, but it took 10 days.
So disappointed. These coatings are dangerous and unnecessary. The stainless steel coating in the cooking surfaces is good enough. It’s fantastic otherwise, but unusable because of the materials in use. And don’t think this is only a problem for sensitive people. Consider us like canaries in a coal mine for the risk to you of repeated exposure.

Wonderful product. Cooks a litter hot, but I once you adjust for that, it's perfect. So glad I purchased this. One device on my kitchen counter instead of multiple products. I just wish it was able to take a 9x13 casserole dish. Just a tad to small.
