We had to replace our Cuisinart food processor that we had for many years. This one is made with plastic and doesn't work as well as our previous one. The blade doesn't cut as well and it takes a lot longer and some pieces are left whole.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have had several Cuisinart appliances, including two other food processors. This one seems to be as good as the previous ones, with one exception. I am having problems using the smaller unit and the rubber seal on the smaller one keeps coming off and is difficult to put back on. I purchased the Cuisinart because I had used them in the past and they were of high quality and lasted a long time. I thought the 2 sizes would be useful. Hopefully, I will figure out the problems I am having. Otherwise, it seems to be be working very well.

So far the cuisinart element 8 has done an admirable job. It is easy to assemble. With the shredder and the slicer I never remember which side is which and usually wind up changing sides. Also, it's rather cheap feeling. I guess I am comparing it with the DCL7 which was more solid feeling. But all in all I'm satisfied.
