Difficulty in getting it to work properly

I bought the 12,000 BTU AC unit a couple weeks ago and it certainly cools my large living room and dining room. However, the remote sensor function does not work properly nor does the Econ Cool function. I believe the issue is the internal thermostat on the unit. Nonetheless, the unit is difficult to master; it is almost like we have a rude guest that we continually have to engage for their sake not ours.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Some glitches but otherwise a good AC

Basic background of the device -- The "Cool" mode on this unit forces the fan to operate 100% of the time, and then the condenser cycles on and off in order to reach the set temperature. The "Economy" mode syncs the fan and condenser, so that both will simultaneously turn on and off to reach the set temperature. The glitch in the system is as follows: In "Economy" mode, once the threshold temperature is reached, the device powers off as it should. However, once the ambient temperature increases by a small amount the unit will rapidly cycle on, blow for sometime as little as 30 seconds, then shut off. This is annoying for a couple reasons. First, the sound of the unit constantly turning on and off is pretty frustrating. Second, the unit does not stay on long enough to compensate for the rate of increase in temperature of the room that can happen in buildings that aren't well insulated. To compensate for this glitch, always keep the unit on "Cool" mode so that the fan doesn't turn off. The cycling of the condenser happens at about the same frequency as "Economy" mode, but the condenser seems to stay on longer and so actually has pretty good effect at further cooling down the room.
Other tips:
- The temperature sensor on the device and the remote will detect different temperatures since the unit should be cooler. The remote is a cool concept because you can get the AC to actually cool down a room to a more accurate set point. I enjoy this feature, but you can accomplish similar results by simply setting the unit's temperature set point down maybe 3-4 degrees cooler than you actually want the room.
- Avoid "Economy" mode when actively trying to cool down a room you're in. It's better for preventing a room from getting too hot while you're not in it.

Overall, very effective AC unit that can cool down not just my room but my entire 2br apartment. Just needs a little tinkering to get it right.

Great for small home!

My home is only 1080 square feet and it keeps it nice and cool and costs less than my old one to run! It's a little noisier than I'd like but for the money its great!

Powerful Unit
