Excellent smoker, terrible as a grill.

As far as smoking it’s great! Set it and forget it. As far as an everyday grill, it’s terrible. Preset temps and a HUGE delay as far as controlling grilling temps. I bought this to replace having a smoker and a separate grill. Heading out in the morning to buy another grill for everyday use.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Honestly loved the smoker. Kept temps well. Actually cut smoking time on a Boston butt so I was pretty impressed there. My issue is with the quality of some of the materials used. Yes I was fully aware that it was made in China when I bought it. I bought this one as I felt it was the best deal for the money I was willing to spend on first pellet grill. That being said, the screws used in assembly are pretty terrible. Most of them stripped out or actually chipped out on the head. No biggie as I have no intention of taking it apart again and everything is secure. However, the grease bucket literally fell apart in my hands when I was washing it by hand. Spot welds weren’t even close to penetrating. Other than those couple of things, pretty dang happy thus far

I put this grill together Saturday and cooked for the first time Sunday. Assembly was very easy if you follow the directions. It can be assembled by one person until you get to the standing it up stage.
The manual was very thorough in all the processes (assembly, initial start up, shut down, & subsequent start ups) so I highly recommend reading and following the manual.
Cooking was also a breeze. I had a happy family and everything turned out great.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Researched pellet smokers and chose the DLX never looking back. Everything it’s advertised to do it does exceptionally well. From Ribs to Beef Tenderloin it excels!

Great smoker!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've only used an indirect heat smoker. I decided to get a pellet smoker so I could have better control over temperature and more flexibility. This smoker is awesome. I've done ribs and salmon so far with excellent results. You can flip between sear and smoke mode. I'll be doing burgers this weekend. So easy to turn it on, let it warm up, drop your pellets into the hopper and away you go. I'm going to get some great use out this. Quality of the smoker is great too. And it only took me a couple hours to put together.

I did wait for my review due to wanting to really try it, and it's exceeded my expectations! Putting together was very easy with the awesome directions too! Highly recommended!

Great features for the price!!

I absolutely love it. All my friends have Traegers and Green Eggs and any other brand, you name it. But I saw OKJs and it intrigued me more than most. I did my research and after years and years. I finally pulled the trigger on the Rider DLX. My mom has a Traeger and came over for it's maiden voyage. I smoked bison meatballs, chicken wings and chickens breasts. Even my mom who is a die-hard Traeger fan was so impressed by my OKJ, that she was like "I'm selling my Traeger and getting one of these!"
