Great smoker for beginners

I replaced my little used green egg with this smoker and I’m so glad I did, following joes beer can chicken, best chicken I’ve ever had, it really is simply and easy to use

All Around Great Grill

I bought this grill after reading many reviews and watching U-Tube videos. My main focus was on it being a great product and that it would put a true sear on the food. I owned a competitor product that had all the wi-fi features and to be honest I never used the word-fi once the new wore off, so being wi-fi was not even part of the equation, I’m sure for some wi-fi is and this unit may not be the best choice for you.
I am very happy with this grill and I’m sure most of you will be also if you want a smoker that puts out great smoked food as well as putting a true sear on your meat if desired.
The flex rack system along with the flex grate really opens up your ability to cook multiple foods at the same time utilizing the different grates and racks.
Overall a great pellet grill/smoker that I would recommend to everyone that loves to grill/smoke like I do.
I am very happy with this grill and I’m sure most of you will be also if you want a smoker that puts out great smoked food as well as putting a true sear on your meat if desired.

I put this grill together last night and it was a breeze! I had one hole that I had to drill out slightly larger so the screw would thread in straight, but even with that glitch I still rated the DLX 5 stars. The instructions were simple, parts were easy to sort, and most of the assembly of the hopper/auger/body is already done for you.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Loved for 6 months!

This worked great for 6 months, igniter went out and they took months to send another fine. They cover the cost of parts but not the shipping. We replaced it and it worked great for almost another six months, once again no igniter. It continues to feed pellets and never lights. Expensive piece of junk. Regret ever purchasing!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love the grill. It's huge for when I have a big party, yet I can still use it for small occasions. I love the sear or smoke options. Functions as it supposed to. The hopper is huge and love that it dumps into the bucket. The only issue is the temperature gauge and the temperature probe. I had to but my own probe and temp gauge for the inside of the grill to accurately read the internal temp of the grill. The OEM temp gauge was off by like 15 to 30 degrees give or take on different occasions. I adjusted the vents and it helped a bit. But other than that, I am super happy with my purchase. Gotten many compliments on the grill as well.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Auger jams all the time

Worked great for the first 4-5 months. Ever since then the auger jams consistently every 2-3 weeks. This requires you to completely tear everything apart to clear the jam... and really sucks when you have an expensive chunk of meat that is now ruined because of it. This is will following all of the instructions to properly cool down the grill after each and every use.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I am not "Grill-Master", but I am an above average grilling enthusiast with many years using all kinds of open fire and gas or electric grills and smokers. (many of which I still own and use). With that being said, allow me to share with you my experience owning this particular grill.
I had been in the market for a pellet grill for a few months and did quite a bit of research on the topic. I settled on the Oklahoma Joe for a few reasons.

I have owned other OJ products in the past and have no complaints. They are well manufactured and sturdy. I purchased my grill pre assembled but had the obligatory things in need of tightening.
*ONE thing I highly recommend! follow the directions for set up and seasoning the grill.
The grill was very easy to learn and set. Cooking with it is actually fun. I say that because it literally cooks everything I throw at it. My ribs have never come out better, EVER!

I have cooked meats from fish/seafood to Elk and Caribou. Baked the best smoked gouda mac and cheese my family ever tasted, made brownies and biscuits. Future projects for baking bread and cobblers in the works.
I have not experienced any negative moments with the grill that I have read, but I have done my due diligence and taken the time to clean and maintain the grill after each use. The ability to drop unused pellets for storage, an ash cleanout and dual drip collectors are great additions.
I couldn't be happier with this grill

I’ve had my Rider for a little over a year now and we like it so much we use it nearly every weekend. It is so versatile and easy to use that I actually got rid of my charcoal/gas grill entirely. I have made everything from ribs and brisket to bread and brownies on it. My wife has professed that she will not eat “insert food item here” without it being cooked on the Rider. I would recommend this to everyone, whether you are a BBQ pro or brand new to smoking meats.
