Useless

I bought 2, to use like AiMesh. 1. The main router is 3 meters away from my video doorbell , the second router is 15 meters away (in my detached garage)(wire connection). My video doorbell connect only with the second router, with 1 bar wifi signal. Ok I turn off second router, the video doorbell connect to the main router(full signal), power on the second router, guess what, my video doorbell disconnect from main router and connect to the second router(WHAT???) .
2. If someone push the button of the video doorbell , I get notification after 10-30 minutes (YES MINUETS). Not matter if I'm connected to the main or second router.
I go back to my Linksys wrt1900ac , I get notification in 1-2 seconds

Very good, up to date features, limited range

I bought this because I have an Asus RT-AC86U with which I was quite happy, but it was getting a bit unreliable, as older routers do; it was now too unreliable for my stuck-at-home family who hold strong feelings about the reliability of their network connection.
My ISP feed is 100Mbps/10Mbps so I looked at dual band mesh routers, as tri-band would be overkill, and I had decided it was time to move from a single router to a mesh network. I decided the Asus Aimesh would give me the same performance as the Netgear dual band mesh I would be likely to buy, with less cost now as I'm already invested in the Asus system. The Asus solution is feature rich also, probably intimidatingly so if you don't have experience with routers. You can just ignore the settings you don't understand. Anyway, the rich set of features was a plus for me when compared to the less configurable Netgear mesh network I considered. The RT-AX55 was the cheapest WiFi6 ASUS router I could find with good wireless features, and 1800 Mbps is plenty for my ISP feed. I found the RT-AX55 on sale at Best Buy. For the sale price I paid for a brand name router, with a very up to date feature set, I don't expect better value than this.
I installed the RT-AX55 as the new router and moved the RT-AC86U to become a wireless Aimesh node. RT-AX55 setup and Aimesh setup were easy. The RT-AX55 has rather limited RAM. I usually see 3% CPU usage and 66% RAM usage with 30 or so wireless clients, and a few wired clients, so capacity is good in spite of the amount of RAM provided. This is in an Aimesh network so I don't know if these metrics would hold for a standalone router application.
The combination of these two routers in the Aimesh has been reliable in the couple of weeks I've used it. I'll stay in the Asus Aimesh ecosystem and will consider a second RT-AX55 unit when the RT-AC86U needs to be retired. (I considered Easymesh rather than Aimest but I suspect Easymesh is an open standard with little participation beyond one company, so I consider it practically a proprietary mesh standard at this point)
Supposedly you can set up to four guest networks on Aimesh (or this router) but I didn't have success beyond one guest network, and wasn't inclined to invest more time in experimentation.
Compared to the range of the mighty RT-AC86U, the RT-AX55 broadcast range is much less impressive, so that's why the RT-AX55 gets four stars instead of five. Other than range, I'm quite pleased with it. The RT-AX55 by itself probably would be fine for many 2000-2500 sq. foot two-story houses if positioned closer to the centre of the house.
Two RX-AX55 units (on sale) in an Aimesh is reasonably priced as a feature rich WiFi6 mesh alternative, if you have modest ISP bandwidth as I do. Networking the two units together with Ethernet would be even better, and probably serve well for a 250-500 Mbps ISP feed when so connected.

I have this as an access point with another asus router. I have to factory reset the device every 2 weeks. I should have bought a better model from asus. The other router is rock solid.

Good router, difficult set-up, flimsy plastic

All the features I needed worked well. Reading online discussions though, there were certain versions of firmware that would break the router and were to be avoided; after finding the "safe" versions, upgrading firmware took a few attempts before it worked. Definitely spent a good half-day getting everything set up and running properly.
But the worst part is when I went to adjust the angle of one antenna, it just snapped off at the base. I contacted ASUS support and they said I'd have to pay to get it repaired -- what a ripoff. So now I have only 3 antenna instead of 4.

Great router for its price

Its been 3 months since I've had this router and I have not had any problems with it. I live in a two floor house with a basement and have not experienced any lag. We have 12 devices connected to the wifi. I would recommend this router to any one looking for a budget router. Its really easy to install and even comes with an app to set up your router and also cool features like kicking someone off the wifi.

No Direction

Lack of direction. Terms used in the sparse instructions assume the average joe know's what they refer to. Quick setup guide didn't work for me. I ended up with a nightmare with multiple passwords and items that were working no longer were recognized. Nightmare. Total malfunction on my part I suppose but I never presented myself as a qualified installer. I'm sure many people will get plenty of frustrating evenings with this product. I'm allocating one more attempt. Should my view and opinions change I will update this review.
