Spend more time cleaning than cooking

We were so excited to purchase this new grill last year (2021). We normally grill a couple of times a week, but not any more. We’ve used this grill about 4 times, it’s just such a chore to clean! The holes in the grates are so small they are clogged up and have to be cleaned every time. I finally resorted to oven cleaner, how fun is that. I read that you can convert to a regular grill but they don’t cook as well. What a waste, and ruined our joy of cooking out.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great grill.

We currently have a 4 burner with a natural gas conversion that is 12 years old and still works perfectly, however we need to down size for our smaller yard.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Serious smoke problem

I've had this for 2 years. Problems with excessive smoke started immediately. I tried cleaning the grates and heat plate after every use with no relief. The last time I used it, the smoke was so bad it set off my neighbors smoke alarm. The workmanship and material seem very good but because of the smoke problem I've got to get a new grill without the infrared feature to keep the peace with my neighbors.

Infrared grills are designed to burn hotter, create more even cooking, and lock in the natural juices of your food. The smoke is caused by the grease and food drippings vaporizing as you are cooking. I can not say because Char-Broil shipped me a product missing the cooking grate, door handle, and a bent firebox frame. Still waiting on cooking grate. Customer Service has been great though.

Older Model was better

The older model with the solid heat shield pan was much better than this new model. This model is much much tougher to regulate, cook on, and clean. Whoever came up with this design and whoever approved it should reconsider and go back to the older model. Heck, that would even be a great marketing campaign. We listened to the customer and brought back our old dependable Char Broil TRU Infrared models.

Bring backolder design

I had the older version of this that had a different heat shield. Disappointed to see I cannot buy a replacement like it. Guess I'll keep looking.
