Significant upgrade over NetGear Nighthawk

I had a pretty nice NetGear Nighthawk router, Wifi 5, and only upgraded to the Orbi because of a new security camera install that was just out of range of the Nighthawk’s reach. I also had trouble with my garage door opener maintaining a connection to my router. The upgrade to Orbi solved those issues and significantly increased connection speeds in the far corners of my house. I was very excited at the improved speeds and so far have absolutely zero negative things to say. I research the heck out of things before buying and this purchase was no different. I like that you can still log in to this router and adjust the settings for things like port forwarding. I considered the Eero, but understand the end user cannot modify the settings. I would recommend this router and satellite combo. My home is 2,800 square feet and coverage is great throughout the entire house.

Not worth the money

Updated firmware, followed all troubleshooting available, but satellite would not stay connected. Even when it was placed on the other side of the room. Definitely not worth the money.

Recently was gifted and installed Orbi to upgrade house network. It was incredibly easy to install, easy integrated into existing UserID/Password, and performs exceptionally well. Fantastic System!!

Good mesh system with some annoying bugs

Overall the Orbi is a pretty good mesh system. I had purchased an eero pro 6 bundle and returned it due to bad performance. The Orbi offered better coverage and performance over the eero pro 6. A few annoying things are that you can only change some settings in the web console and some things from the app. If netgear would fix this it would get 5 stars from me.

Work From Home WiFi System

I used to experience failed WiFi connection when video conferencing for work, but Orbi’s mesh system with the satellite always keeps me online. I’m also now getting all the speed I pay for with my ISP. Wish I would have purchased soon. 5 star.

Setup was extremely easy, the performance is impressive. The reason for less than a 5 is the Orbi app. The device management is a joke. The app listed all my apple and Samsung devices as just that “Apple” and “Samsung”. I had to separately identify each device by its MAC and IP address. Even after manually cleaning up the device list the app shows most devices “off line”, even after I’ve verified the device in online. The Orbi app is a complete disappointment…..
