Awesome Refridgerator

Thanks counter depth fridge is the perfect addition to our renovated kitchen. We had a different manufacturers fridge and the ice maker didn’t work from day one and wasn’t counter depth.
We purchased GE as we also have the cooktop and microwave/oven combination and absolutely love the function and the looks of GE appliances.

An improvement over old Samsung

We love the refer space w/o wasting it with all the refer ice maker problems. Our freezer ice maker is wonderful. The GE, as other reviews state, has some quirky noises, although they’re not bothersome. Our only small complaint is that the freezer door has too much magnetism and is hard to open. It’s a great improvement over our Samsung French door which the ice maker quit working after 6 yrs.

Beautiful and spacious, but...

The refrigerator is spacious with more storage than our side by side that had only slightly fewer cubic feet. I would give this model 5 stars if it weren’t for the freezer door/drawer which requires brute strength to pull out, as previous reviewers have noted similar difficulty. We’ve stabilized the unit by lifting up the wheels and placing silicone stops in front of them, so at least it is no longer moving when we pull out the drawer, but it feels like it’s only a matter of time before the freezer door handle comes off. I have posted a question about this, yet to be answered by GE.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Placing the stops in front of the rollers are exactly what we would recommend to prevent the refrigerator from moving when opening the doors. As mentioned in our answer to the question you previously posted, the strength of the door gasket lends itself to the issue with the drawer being more difficult to open.
We would recommend wiping down the rubber gasket on the drawer with a light baking soda and water solution, dry it thoroughly and then rub paraffin wax (found in the canning supplies at your local grocery store) or a light coating of petroleum jelly all along the gasket. This may help make opening the drawer easier.

Drastic loss in quality

I purchased a similar style GE fridge 10 years ago. I wanted a second fridge and because I liked the GE fridge I got 10 years ago I decided another GE would be good. Boy was I wrong. I had both doors replaced once and the left door replaced a second time. Insulation seeped though the seams on the doors in manufacturing and was not cleaned off before packaging. The fridge is loud. I can barely hear my 10 year old fridge when I am standing next to it. The new fridge is on a different level in the house and I can clearly hear it from the first floor. The door is noisy when it closed and does not close smoothly. Additionally, when the freezer temp is set to zero the ice-cream is soft. I need to adjust the temp too minus 6 so the ice cream is solid. In my older fridge a o degree freezer setting has kept the ice cream perfectly solid. So a huge disappointment in the loss of quality over the 10 years. GE quality has greatly diminished form the last GE product I purchased. I will not recommend GE products to anyone nor will I purchase any more GE products on the future.

So far so good

Counter depth made the small kitchen feel much bigger. So far no issues bu it has only been a couple weeks. Our old Samsung looked good at a couple of weeks and slowing broke down so I like to take the long view and wait. Will be certain to update this review if it begins to fail.
