Not reliable
on September 13, 2023

Bought this refrigerator during our build process for a new condo. 5 months after moving in refrigerator & freezer went out (lost everything in the freezer because we were out of town). The compressor and dryer were replaced. Ran great for 4 months.
The compressor, dryer, and jumper compressor tube were replaced. It worked for 3 days. This is my definition of a LEMON with major issues.
I love the features, looks, and that it is counter-depth but that is not going to make me change my rating. I would not buy this model!

Don’t bother!

I’ve had this refrigerator for the past year and a half and it’s already stopped cooling and freezing. We checked all possible components that would causes and they seem to be working fine. We reset it, turned it off, and waited 24 hours. The temperature still remain high. I thought GE was a quality brand. Very disappointed

Beautiful and spacious, but...

The refrigerator is spacious with more storage than our side by side that had only slightly fewer cubic feet. I would give this model 5 stars if it weren’t for the freezer door/drawer which requires brute strength to pull out, as previous reviewers have noted similar difficulty. We’ve stabilized the unit by lifting up the wheels and placing silicone stops in front of them, so at least it is no longer moving when we pull out the drawer, but it feels like it’s only a matter of time before the freezer door handle comes off. I have posted a question about this, yet to be answered by GE.

Hi Susanfoto - Thank you for taking the time to post a review about your new GE refrigerator. We are thrilled to hear about your satisfaction with the spacious design of the interior of the refrigerator.
Placing the stops in front of the rollers are exactly what we would recommend to prevent the refrigerator from moving when opening the doors. As mentioned in our answer to the question you previously posted, the strength of the door gasket lends itself to the issue with the drawer being more difficult to open.
We would recommend wiping down the rubber gasket on the drawer with a light baking soda and water solution, dry it thoroughly and then rub paraffin wax (found in the canning supplies at your local grocery store) or a light coating of petroleum jelly all along the gasket. This may help make opening the drawer easier.
We will also share your feedback with our refrigeration design team.
Have a great day!

Does the job

Good refrigerator and freezer. Well lit and Roomy, although fruit and vegetable drawers are very small. Deli drawer is a great touch. Freezer drawer is very hard to open. Seems like the seal is so strong it doesn't release the drawer when you pull it. My whole fridge, moves two inches every time.
I would recommend this to a friend!

So far it's ok but...

The refrigerator was delivered and set up a bit over 2 weeks ago. Lots of room inside, nice appearance, really like the finish. However, The freezer drawer is very difficult to open. We have to push against the refrigerator to keep the whole refrigerator from moving forward into the kitchen!! The doors were, both stiff when first set up but appear to be loosening up with use, however, we must consciously push the doors closed because they do not close easily. Opening the left door with the seal block is problematic. Hard to open and close while the right door is closed. Ice maker is working well and much prefer the shape of the cubes. Freezer space is a bit more limited than the pictures we saw before purchasing. The unit holds temperature well and is much quieter than our two year old Frigidaire which really had some strange noises and would also set my hearing aids to squealing. So far we are OK with the unit but will require servce on the freezer drawer soon.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I love this refrigerator. Not too many "bells and whistles" just an ol'fashion basic refrigerator for the most part.
I would like it a whole lot better IF IT WAS 100% MADE IN THE USA. MOVING FOWARD CAN YOU MAKE THAT HAPPEN.... !!!! :)))))))))
I would recommend this to a friend!

Freezer drawer tighter than fort knox’s vault
on January 10, 2021

from Jacksonville FL
Just received this new fridge. The freezer drawer is difficult to open. In fact when trying to open the door it pulls the entire fridge forward out of its spot. The wheels don’t lock so the entire fridge rolls out of place. Makes it very easy to get behind it to clean but you cant get your food in or out of the freezer with out pushing very hard on the fridge doors while pulling on the freezer drawer. Does the warranty cover chiropractor visits? You will need to purchase some kind of wheel chocks to hold the thing in place. **If you have any kind of disability or mobility issues you are in for trouble with this fridge. Aesthetically it is a very handsome fridge and everything else seems ok. They should market this as a fridge/exercise machine combo deal. Unfortunately I am stuck with it now because you can’t find a fridge anywhere. I was forced into getting this one as there were no other choices available. All the reviews give GE good marks however this issue was mentioned in other reviews and I figured they were exaggerated and I could handle a drawer, just tug a little harder no bug deal. But this is much more than a tug this like trying to pull an elephant through a door. I had my 24 year old give it a try as well just be sure and it wasn’t just me. She couldn’t get it open either without a struggle.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello - We appreciate you taking the time to share your review. Due to the size of the doors and the strength of the door gaskets, it is possible that it may roll or move when one of the doors is opened.
Since the rollers/wheels do not lock in place, it may help to place a piece of wood, a small wood wedge, or plastic furniture coaster (with felt on the bottom) under the wheels to prevent rolling. Re-level the refrigerator if necessary. Thank you so much for your feedback regarding the freezer drawer! Try rubbing paraffin wax or petroleum jelly along the edges of the entire gasket. Paraffin wax is used for canning and is safe for use around food. We will be sure to pass this on to the appropriate team for future design and development. Have a good day!
