A Lemon

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The coil burners do not hold a temp. If I set it to high, it gets hot, then it cools down, so no consistency. The oven is set at 350° and sounds at what it says 350°, but in reality it is only 300°. It does finally get up to the proper temp, but does not brown or heat through to the center. I will not be keeping it.

Coils sometimes turn themselves off

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I buy coil stoves because we don't have access to natural gas and I do canning, which can't be done on a glass top. We just had to replace our Maytag range - this one is very similar, but there is a new feature where the coil burner turns off if it stays "too hot" for a long period of time or the burner senser isn't depressed consistently. We discovered this when trying to use our wok which sits on a rim around the burner as opposed to right on the burner. The burner kept turning off, making it extremely frustrating to complete the cooking of our pork chow mein. We had to keep turning the burner on and off to get the burner to get hot again and ensure the meat cooked well. This is going to make canning very difficult if the burner cannot sustain consistent boling temperatures to properly process jars in such a large volume of water.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Exciting For New Stove

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Weve had it a couple weeks and so far so good. Burners heat up quickly and are hotter than my old stove. Oven works great. I didnt notice it in the store, but the warmer drawer is very shallow. It does not extend the full depth of the stove, so storage space underneath is limited and the drawer itself feels a little flimsy. We will see how it holds up
I would recommend this to a friend!

It's okay. Doesn't hold a candle to my old one.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this range because my old Hotpoint purchased in the 80's finally gave out in a big way. I went with the coil burners because I do home canning and knew a glass top would not hold up. I did use it for some canning and it did perform satisfactorily. Things that could be improved: markings for the knobs and overall quality. The markings for the knobs are tiny and hard to read. Also, I have a feeling that in time, the markings for the knobs will wear off, if the range lasts as long as it should. My old one had markings on the knobs that were easy to read and NEVER wore off. I would probably swap them out if I could, but the settings are opposite (Whirlpool High is on the right, Hotpoint on the left). Storage drawer is shallow and flimsy. There is room to make it deeper, Why isn't it? The small front burner with a melt setting doesn't heat up on the lowest setting. I have to turn it to 9 o'clock to get it to do anything. The digital display is okay, once I got used to it. I cover up the clock at night because it is so bright. When the timer goes off, it's easy to ignore. I prefer something more obnoxious that gets my attention so I don't space it off when distracted. I haven't tried the self-cleaning feature yet.
