I have two 20 + year old Genie Intellicode screw drive openers that continue to perform as designed and wanted to upgrade the openers to the 21st century with WI-FI control and features. I simply removed the two door bell switches and wired the Aladdin connect in their place and wall mounted. Toughest part was adding a 120V outlet just above where the opener controller mounted on the wall. Luckily I was able to tap into a double gang light switch very near and add the outlet in a convenient spot. Highly recommend, love the notifications, the ability to control anywhere in the world with internet and set rules like if a door is open after 10 pm, auto close. Had to purchase an extra door sensor for the 2nd door but mounting those was a breeze.

Great app but door sensor has battery issues

The wifi and app works great, Siri integration is nice! My only complaint is the door sensor constantly says low battery even 0% at times. I figured it was just a cheap battery they ship it with so I replaced it but the brand new 5 dollar battery says the same. Tested the new battery with a DMM and its fully charged. I’ve only had the kit for a month so.

The product was easy to install, taking about 2 hours. Operation falls in line with what I expected. I like being able to check door status, open/closed and being able to operate the door remotely. Two problems I am having are; 1. The battery for the door sensor shows it is in need to be replaced even after I replaced it. I found if I remove the battery and reinstall it the battery shows as good. After a couple of hours it shows shows low. 2. My hand remotes and the remotes in my cars work intermittently. I’ve been in contact with customer service trying to resolve. Generally I’ve been pleased with Genie products.
