This is conceptually a great product. Installation for 1 or more doors is easy and effective BUT ONLY if all the doors are in the same open area, with no walls between the door sensors and the Door opener control module. This was not clear before I made the purchase. Our Driveway ends with one garage door opening on the east side and the other on the north with a room in between (2 walls). I installed the Door Control Module in the east opening garage next to the Aladdin opener motor head, per the directions. I ran required wire from above that DCM though 50’ of blown insulation in a 130° attic, to the motor head in the other garage. Not so fast… They didn’t work. I kept getting a “paired but not connected” error on the app for the north door. After 2 calls to Aladdin, with long wait times, but eager to help reps, Here is what I was told. “The door sensor which you mount to the door communicates door position to the DCM, and to your wifi, and mobile app, via Bluetooth, and doesn’t penetrate walls or obstructions or compete well against other signal emitting electronics.” They suggested moving the DCM closer to the 2nfd door or buy another DMC and the 2nd garage. ????? My mobile phone communicates with Bluetooth speakers in this same situation flawlessly. HOWEVER, Aladdin Connect’s Bluetooth signal between the Door Sensor and the DCM is too weak to make the trip of 35’ and through 2 walls. After the 2nd Aladdin call, and 20 OK, I opted to move the DCM in the east facing garage to a spot next to the door, surely the signal can make it way 20’ and through 2 metal garage doors and not get obstructed by walls…. Right? NO….. Can’t make it 20’ feet through garage doors. Aladdin is a well-respected company that came up with a great idea that can be used on door openers that don’t already have this technology built in and is a great idea. Their Sr. engineers however should be humiliated that they approved a product with such impotent Bluetooth signal strength. They claim that the signal goes 65’ if line of sight….? I know it won’t go through more than a piece of thin aluminum and go 20’. The bottom line is that if you want to control on door, or 2 to 3 doors that are in the same space with no wall between them, this will probably work. Aladdin should have the pride to boost the Bluetooth signal, and replace past purchases with the improved model for the customers who request it, at no charge, or refund the price of the 2nd system for those of us who took that path.
