Easy to install

This compactor is great. It was SO EASY to install. It just rolled into the space, no hardware necessary. It works well and is pretty quiet.

Hidden Controls

This compactor is okay but I guess because I bought a cabinet ready compactor to match my kitchen it really only opens by the foot pedal which quite often it will start running while attempting to open it. Very sensitive. Also when opening with the foot pedal the door kind of bounces out and vibrates. Very annoying. My old compactor glided out smoothly. I put a cabinet handle on the door front for appearance purposes and occasionally I can pull it open but most of the time it starts running on it's own doing this as well wasting more of my time. Also the brackets I was given to attach the compactor to the counter top do not hold it securely and it moves around. I need to adjust it occasionally to keep it lined up with the cabinets. My old compactor worked great but when I remodeled I bought the GE because my appliance guy said it was a better unit. Hopefully I will get the 20 years out of this I got out of my old one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Compactor - Sleek & Clean Design

I think Global Warming is a hoax but I know we do more for the environment than 100 Leonardo DiCaprios or 100 John Kerrys by using our GE Compactor. When our first one finally bit the dust after 18 years, we couldn't get another one for 3 months due to Covid. During that time, we were setting out 4-5 bags of trash per week. With our GE Compactor, we only bring one bag of trash to the dump each week at most. Love the new design with controls on the inside and pulling up on the foot pedal to compact. One feature request, wish you would add a velcro attached disposable paper/plastic protector to the top compressor plate to help keep it clean from yucky trash. I'm doing that myself now.

Broke after 7 weeks

It worked well until it didn’t. Was first installed and used last month with a new kitchen remodel. It seems as if it died mid compact because it won’t open enough to fix. Hopefully the warranty will take care of it.

Much Louder than my previous GE compactor. There is no way to stop it in the compact position.

Stop working after 4 months
