We purchased this GE compactor to replace our old GE Profile from 2006. Needless to say, the GE compactor lasts a very long time.

Owned a GE Profile for years and never had a problem with it until recently. Had to replace because the on off control was no longer available. Work horse and sturdy builted.

This is my 3rd Trash Compactor since 1982. Naturally, it works perfectly, and closes easily with a gentle nudge. I love the clean plain stainless look, but am concerned about one thing. It lacks a handle. I'm worried over the years I'll have a dent (or more) on the front panel from my knee closing it as well as food and fingerprints. That is the only reason I gave it 4 stars.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Complete garbage

It is essentially a piece of crap. Wegot this replacement one two months after the previous GE one broke down completely. that one was only 8 months old and still under the manufacturers warranty! The replacement one does compact properly and it it feels ANY resistance to garbage, it simply backs up. Therefore nothing EVER truly gets compacted. We will see how long this one lasts until it completely fails. I will then ask for my money back, we have had other brands before but never had these issues.
