Great compactor so far!! Replaced my Whirlpool compactor with this one- GE is quieter, fit perfect and more sleek looking without controls showing.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Quiet and easy one foot operation

Install took some time in very old cabinet but worked out well. Madam and I like the simple foot pedal operation which is much quieter than the previous compactor.

Sleek looking

Had our GE Compactor a month and so far so good. The one thing that is different from our previous one is the noise level which is louder then our previous compactor.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Pedal broke after only 1 year and limited use.

We love this compactor's looks and it fits into our cabinet but it broke after only a year of use. The foot pedal is the only way to open the unit and after 1year of use, the metal wore down and the pedal broke. There is no way to repair it. We called GE to send someone out to repair or replace it. Do not recommend this compactor as the metal work is very flimsy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Why can't there be a ZERO star button?

I wish I could give ZERO stars for this appliance. I just received a check for my 2nd, yes 2nd, GE compactor. In the 15 months I have owned this machine, it has only worked for 3. Thank goodness I purchased the extended warranty. I love the looks of this appliance, as it has no handle and its sleek design works well in my kitchen. However, the internal components are JUNK! GE...go back to metal gears, etc and this problem will stop. Comes down to GE wanting to save a few bucks, but spending more due to having techs come out every few weeks to replace all of the parts, only to break again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
