Missing a valuable feature.

I will really miss the loss of the feature that allows the ram to remain down which significantly increases the time between bag replacements. A switch beside the on/off to enable this function would be a good add. The ram would retract when the open pedal is depressed.

Time will tell…

Wish I could have found a replacement stainless fronted product with a handle for closing so there wouldn’t be a major problem with fingerprints, but, unfortunately not!
I’m also concerned with how much effort is required to open and close the compactor drawer. My previous compactor did so easily.
Since it took over 4 months to get installed, I decided to hope the drawer issue will ‘resolve with time’. We’ll see!

great look but odd with no external handle

I replaced a former GE trash compactor that had a very long life and great performance. I expect the same with this new one. However, I am in disbelief that there is no external handle. Yes, it looks nice but all my other GE appliances have handles so introduces a mismatch. Practically, it is awkward to use as you step on the floor plate to nudge the door open but then you have put your hand in the opening and pull the slide out. Then you push in on the outside front panel and your fingers mark up the front.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Foot Pedal Fails!

The Great thing about this Compactor is the foot Pedal. The Weak point of this Compactor is the Foot Pedal. The design is Flawed. The Pedal pivots on s Small Screw Shoulder which wears out both the screw and the hole in about 1 Year. Just after Warranty. You must buy the Pedal to get the Screw and buy the Bin to get a new Hole.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor choice, never worked right. Minimal use.

Just got new compactor after buying the same model in 12-2022. broke down 4 times with seller repairing it. After these repairs were done, same part failure, GE decided to replace it. Hope this one does better
