Broke in 2 weeks

2 weeks after installation and very little usage, this model stopped working and required repair of the gearbox that pushes the ram down.
Seems poorly engineered and noisier than other models at this price point.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased it because it was all I could find available. It does not have a very useful feature. I would not buy this model again. I would not recommend this model. I regret buying this compactor. I am not satisfied with the purchase.
15 years ago we moved into our current home and replaced the appliances, including the existing compactor. We purchased a Kenmore and while we complained about how loud it was, it did an excellent job. It died two weeks ago and we found ourselves in July 2021 trying to buy an appliance. Supplies have been very limited and our choice was made for us. We purchased this unit because it was the only one that had a promised delivery before October/November 2021. It was delivered in 1 week, as promised at purchase. The compactor looks good and installed easily. Unfortunately, it is actually louder than the old Kenmore it replaced. The worst thing is that it has just 1 job, and it doesn't do it nearly as well as its predecessor. It just doesn't pack the trash as tight. Part of it is due to the lack of a heavy pack function, but even without that, the normal pack just isn't as tight, and since the point is to compact the trash into a smaller volume, it just isn't very good at its job. If I have to purchase another compactor, I will only buy one with a heavy pack function. I wish I could have waited to buy a new compactor, but unfortunately this was the best I could get right now.

The ram on this compactor only goes down half way into the container, so running your compactor early will not do much good. Wait until your trash is about 75% full before you start running it. Clean, Easy to Use, Compact and No More Dog Raids!

Our dog thought our kitchen bin was a giant kong treat stuffed with delectable delights for their midnight snacks. Waking up to the last garbage raid spread over two rooms of the house was the last straw. Our panel ready compactor was the smartest addition to kitchen! Panel ready allowed us to have it seamlessly blend in with our cabinets, the typical power supply meant no specialty outlets, just basic plug, and best of all - we no long have a trash can - aka giant kong treat of wonders - tempting our 4 legged furbaby, thus saving us the wonders of discovering all that we have tossed, meticulously separated all over the floor. Plus, we live in top floor walk up condo, and our trips to the bin room have decreased!! Not only saving us trips to the bin room - but trips to the Vet Office! Which, btw, this little compactor pays for itself in saved vet bills. THANK YOU!

Complete Failure!

I have only compacted my trash a couple of times in the 75 days that I have had this trash compactor. The Compactor RAM starts on its own. The RAM is now at a weird angle and has bent the trash drawer. The compactor no longer works, it was only installed on 9/15. I am very disappointed in the quality of this product. It was very expensive, we are a two member household and have treated this appliance with care, there is no reason for the product failure.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great addition to our home

This is my second one. Installed one in previous home. This one was a piece of cake to level and position within the cabinet. It’s simple to operate with a flip of your foot. One thing I don’t like compared to older model is that the handle has been removed. Even though it opens by pressing the lever with your foot one dings touching the top edge to fully extend it. You can see the fingerprints gathering on the top ends even before using.
