Nice smooth open/close function. Sleek appearance though lack of anyplace to touch for closing leaves a lot of fingerprints on stainless front.

It does exactly what we wanted it to do! Our previous one had an “extra pack” option to hold the trash down if we chose to do so.

Immediate Failure

Purchased, installed and worked less than a week. 2 week wait for service tech. 2 more weeks for parts and repair. Working now.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor Compacting

Our old compactor did a great job (could keep pressure on trash for an extended period), but was loud and groaning. We would have kept the old Kenmore if we had known the poor compacting on the new one. We wasted a thousand dollars.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Sorry to hear about the poor compaction with your new model. If you're finding that your unit has little or no apparent compaction, this could mean that the drawer is not full enough or that trash is stuck between ram and basket. The solutions then would be as follows:
The drawer must be at least 1/2 full of trash before you will see any amount of compacting. The ram does not travel all the way to the bottom. Trash in the bottom of the drawer will be crushed during later cycles.
And if you're finding that trash is stuck between the ram and basket, this trash would need to be removed.

It took three months to receive this unit I assume due to COVID issues. Then after it got here I realized that it didn’t have the extra pack feature that my previous one had. This means that I now take out the trash more often. With that feature I only took it out o ce per week.
I would recommend this to a friend!
