The trash compactor is ok

It's an average compactor. It doesn't hold down the trash, like the Kitchen Aid we had before the GE. It's easier to operate than the Kitchen Aid. Its operation squashes the trash and then returns to the start position. The Kitchen Aid did that also. However, it had a hold position, that would compact the trash better. For 1,049 bucks, all I can say is, it's average.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Packed but not

Nice compactor. However, I would have given 5 stars if there was a way to pack down the trash, keep it packed down for a few minutes, then release it. The trash goes down but it does’ t pack tight.

All OK, but lacks a hand opening Handle

Unlike my KitchenAid compactor, this GE compactor doesn't have a drawer pull handle. You can only open it with the foot release. I like the convience a a foot opening door, but perhaps a third of the times I opened my previous 3 KitchenAid compactors was with my hand. Otherwise, it does the job a compactor should do.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This model was designed with a toe pedal drawer to make it easy to open and load, but we will certainly let our Design team know you would have liked the option of a drawer pull handle; we value your insights, as we always like to know what our consumers think of our models for future development.

I bought 5 GE Cafe appliances. The Smart stove WiFi module was dead on arrival.
The compactor up and down switch failed the first day.
Awaiting replacement parts delivery.

The 5 star rating goes to Jourdyn with Precision Appliance Installation who did a fantastic job installing my trash compactor. While here, he took the initiative to resolve a poor installation problem with drainage with my new Maytag dishwasher caused by another installation company. Both appliances work great now.
