I was looking for a single door ref with a plain front - less to breakdown. I "settled" for this french door model and I love it! The arch of lights makes it so bright, lighting up the whole interior. The smart shelves can be adjusted and configured in a number of ways for max flexibility. It is so roomy compared with my old side-by-side french door model. I may get rid of the spare frige in the garage!
Love the French doors. Have had this refrigerator for 5 months. So far it is great! Temperature is consistent, internal space and lighting are terrific! Very quiet. Let's hope it is still great 15 years from now--yes I'm one of the people that feel expensive appliances should last that long!
Basic refrigerator, no bells and whistles...(hopefully will last longer than the last one that we had which featured too many extras that went wrong). Annoying aspect of this refrigerator is that the doors shut too hard
The LED illumination is much better than in our old side-by-side. The French door design allows good access to the drawer contents. It might be better to have the climate zone drawer split so that only one door needs to be opened to access the contents. At least one more position for the shelves would make it easier to have a tall shelf space which is not the top shelf. For shorter people this would put heavy items such as gallon pitchers at torso level rather than shoulder level. It would also be nice to have one more shelf on one of the doors so that shorter items could be stored more efficiently.
We wanted a fridge-freezer around 30 cubic feet with a large freezer. This one was close to that and had the largest freezer in the store, though it is not as large as the one on our last fridge which was a side-by-side. For some reason, French door models always seem to have smaller freezers.
We didn't need an ice maker, so we did get a little more freezer space by taking out the ice bin. We do like the double-door refrigerator area which allows for putting in larger trays, etc.
Open the doors and its bright. Easy access. I wish ot had a water filter and connection for water. So far it has worked out well. Freezer is a little challenging for the top shelf unless opening the refrigerator. Though i still like it and best of all it hasn't broke. My niggest recommendation is don't fill out the GE card otherwise they send constant mail marketing you to spend more $. If this frig is any good a 5 year warranty is useless. To me, it shows GE is little faith in their product.
