Newer refrigerators sound different from older refrigerators, as modern refrigerators have more features and use newer technology. We encourage you to check out page 19 of the owner's manual for a list and description of normal operating sounds for this refrigerator (it'll help you rule out any potential issues): https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-1000478-2.pdf. For example, you may hear the fans "whir" when the doors are opened frequently or when a large amount of food has just been added - the fans help maintain the correct temperatures.

It’s almost perfect. All functional but the fingerprints is very ignoring. It’s not easy to clean and must clean often before it becomes a big job.

Freezer temperature

Well I’ve only had it for 2 days but everything I’ve read about freezer temperature says it should be set at zero and below. At the coldest setting in the freezer it only goes down to 1.4 degrees and then climbs to 9 degrees before cooling again. I’m sure that this is fine right now but with some age on the fridge it will probably climb in temperature and it’s already dialed to it’s lowest setting. I will be calling GE tomorrow to find out if this is normal. If it is, I may drop it to 1 star. If it should be colder and they resolve the problem I would raise it to 5 stars.

Seems to work OK. Had to buy additional shelf. Not enough room with original shelfs. Refrigerator is very loud when motor is running, driving me crazy. My 40 year old Refrigerator was quieter.

Please also know modern refrigerators have new features and are more energy efficient than older ones. The foam insulation used in new models has excellent insulating capabilities and is very energy efficient, however it is not as sound absorbent as previously used fiberglass insulation.
Hard surfaces such as ceramic tile, vinyl or hard wood floors, walls and kitchen cabinets may make these operating sounds more noticeable. As a result, certain sounds may be unfamiliar on a new refrigerator at first. These sounds are normal and are usually an indication that the refrigerator is operating properly.
