Problem with "garage ready" feature
on January 28, 2023
Posted by: tomnnj
from Hillsborough, NJ
We've had this refrigerator for less than two weeks now. The freezer temperature does not go below 10 degrees. When a GE serviceman came his first words were.."these are not made for this climate" as he claimed to get 5 calls a week about this very issue. We're in central NJ. The temperature the past two weeks has averaged over 40 degrees outside and probably 10 degrees more than that in the garage..
He also stated that his success rate of getting this refrigerator to work properly is less than 50%. Not good.
We had the serviceman order parts to try and fix the problem. We'll see what happens, but so far we're not pleased at all and the serviceman is not optimistic.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Shelf broke on first day

Door shelf broke on first day of installation, holding only a few jars and condiments. Shelves within the fridge seems to cave in the middle as if they were too fragile to hold an average load of groceries.

Good but not long lasting!
on June 8, 2023

Lightbulb stopped working after 1 year even with brand new GE bulb no light may be defective. The seal around the door has ripped GE nicely replaced it free of charge but 2 years later it has ripped again same spot, and they will not replace again the magnetic seal so with out it the door will not suction closed the fridge will be useless with it broken. I have duct tapped it for the moment but I really expected GE to have better long lasting quality!

Update after service call, 1 star to 4 star
on June 29, 2023
Posted by: Garman19
This is an update, emailed customer service, they had a tech at my house the next day!!! I still can’t believe this. My issue was not much airflow causing warm temps in door, the tech read service manuals and came up with my top shelf needed to come down one position, top position traps cold air too close to thermostat and 2nd position gives more area to distribute air to rest of refrigerator, I had been running temperature control on 5, now on 4 and box is 35/36 degrees. Simple fix, plus I wanted to take that middle drawer off, it takes up too much room.

Handle Design Issue
on August 6, 2023
Posted by: Rho23
Delivery man was unable to level fridge as per him if he did that the handles would become stuck together and I'd be unable to open either freezer or fridge doors. As it is now the doors crash into the wall when opened due to being unlevel and I have to manually close doors and do a visual check that door is actually closed. This sounds like a serious design problem with handles being too close together. Other than the doors/handles design issue the fridge itself is working great.

Hello - Thank you so much for sharing your review on this refrigerator. We're glad to see that beyond the door and handles, you are getting good cooling performance.

We definitely recommend leveling the refrigerator if possible, this can prevent the doors from moving when open and help you enjoy using the refrigerator more. You can check out instruction on page 10 inside the user manual. We're going to share a link here: (https://products-salsify.geappliances.com/image/upload/s--LHvQH0y---/7f343bb3bfd4e6c5b5311d39e24b0563b67ace63.pdf?).
