Freezer door when opened has frost build up around top area as if door tops freezer was left ajar…

Hey there, and thanks for reaching out. We truly hate to hear you’ve had an issue with frost building up around the top of the door; we know that must be worrying, and regret any inconvenience caused.
Frost building up can be caused by the door not sealing properly – you might want to make sure there are no items stopping it from closing completely, and check the gasket to make sure there are no gaps or kinks preventing a seal when it's closed. You may also want to ensure there is proper clearance to the air supply and vents in the freezer, to allow circulation. Moisture from open containers might add to frost as well. These tips are listed in our Troubleshooting section of the manual, on page 20; if you’d like to view that, it’s linked here: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-1000478-2.pdf&_. Built to handle Kitchen, Basement, Porch or Garage

We've only had this Fridge for a month now, but love the amount of space inside, and the arrangement of the Shelves and Drawers is nice as well. It's built to handle extreme temperatures of being put in a Basement, Porch, Sunroom or Garage, etc., but is also beautiful enough for inside a small Kitchen as well. We purchased it as a second fridge, and to tied us over when our Kitchen Side-by-side fridge went out. This fridge fit everything we wanted to keep from our old Side-by-side (28cu ft) fridge, even though this is only a 19+cu ft fridge. Lots of space! It easily tied us over in our back Sunroom (winter) while we waited for deliver of a new Side-by-side to put back in out Kitchen (and availability of fridges is not good during this Pandemic). Very happy we now have two nice fridges - one in the Kitchen and this one in our Sunroom.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Garage-ready refrigerators have been designed and extensively tested for use in a garage environment, performing in ambient temperatures from 38°F to 110°F. These refrigerators can be identified by the "Dual Temp Control" option on the freezer air tower. These garage-ready refrigerators have R600a refrigerant, a global standard in household refrigeration which has shown superior energy efficiency when compared to R134a.

I'm disappoiinted. The motor is louder than my previous refrigerator. And the ice maker is a major disappointment. The ice tastes bad. The dealer replaced the ice maker. This one is not as bad, but the ice still has a strange taste. And when the ice melts, the drinks have a bad taste.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We know any issue with noise from the motor or a strange taste in your ice would be frustrating to deal with, especially if you’ve already had the ice maker replaced once. This isn’t what we would expect from the ice maker, and we regret any inconvenience caused.
We do expect the noise level made by newer model refrigerators to sound a bit different than older models, because of newer features and technology; noises can include humming, clicking, etc. If it might be useful, we have a list of normal noises we expect the unit to make on page 19 of the manual: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-1000478-2.pdf&_. Notice of your concern over the noise will be shared with our Design team for review.
Regarding the ice tasting strange, we do taste and odor testing on our refrigerators and freezers, and there aren’t any mechanical parts that we would expect to cause an odor or bad taste. Food transferring odor/taste to the ice or the water supply itself causing the taste are possibilities; if it might be helpful, we have an article discussing those and other conditions that could cause a taste in your ice, linked here: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=18944&_. If you’d like to test if the odor may be from your food (particularly unwrapped or spilled food), we recommend filling a regular ice cube tray with tap water and freezing, then leaving the ice in a bowl in the freezer for a few days and checking if there’s a taste afterward. If there is, the taste is likely coming from food causing an odor in the internal air that circulates through the model. If that ice tastes fine, the issue is more likely with the water supply to the ice maker.

Garage fridge

Happy with this purchase. Good room in freezer, a bit limited in lower section to store tall items unless remove shelves. Really like the temp adjustment features for extremely hot or cold temps since I am using this in the garage. Not many refrigerators have this option

We've gone through multiple fridges for our garage. Due to the temperature fluctuations, they've all stopped working. Little did we know that there is a product designed for the garage. It's been great through the seasons.
