We like the look of this refrigerator. We've had it less than 2 years and have already replaced the ice maker once and scheduled another repair because the ice maker is noisy and randomly make clicking noises. The ice dispenser on the door shoots out ice sometimes doesn't make it into your cup. The stainless steel water catcher is already stained with water spots. If you don't mind a loud and messy refrigerator this is the one to buy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Paid 6 months ago..No Fridge....and GE wants 1000 to fix ours while they make us wait...unreal..

I think it is the best value in the market for built in the only reason it is not 5 stars due to the ice maker being in the louder side. Not to the point that bother me, but we you get close to the fridge you can hear it running.
Our new GE Cafe 42inch built-in fridge was installed in late August. 3 weeks ago the ice maker stopped working. We scheduled a service appointment through GE and the soonest someone could come out was a week later. The tech didn’t show. So we scheduled again and the soonest someone could come out was another week later. During this time, we noticed the new hardwood flooring around our fridge had started warping. We put a moisture reader on them and sure enough, soaking wet. The fridge is leaking. To make matters worse, we can’t shut off the water to it because it’s built into the cabinets and the valve is in the wall behind the fridge. GE sent a single tech out today who said he can’t do anything - this requires a 3-4 person crew. HOW did GE not know this since it requires a serial # to schedule service?? So now we’re waiting ANOTHER week for someone to come out. AND to make matters worse, they say our fridge is no longer under warranty. A fridge that was bought in March, took 5 months to arrive, and was installed 4 months ago. That’s just absurd. I’ve always been a huge fan of GE appliances - have purchased a range, washer, dryer, this fridge, and more, but after this experience, I’m not sure I will again.

We have had multiple problems with the ice and water maker in fact I’ve had this unit replaced twice in the past two years.

We are very happy with our GE Cafe refrigerator. We find that our food is staying fresher longer as the extra space allows for more breathing room for our food. We have had one issue with cooling but service tech came out immediately and repaired the issue. He did not work for GE but stated that this refrigerator should last us up to 10 years which is the main reason I wanted to purchase GE products. I will be buying the extended warranty through GE to ensure maximum life expectancy for this refrigerator. It truly is the most important and used appliance in our home.
