Especially, when e-filing in California using a credit card, it would have been nice to know their required personal information and charges up-front. I had to stop the program and go run her down to get all of her driver's license information.

Turbo Tax was very easy to use, very precise and convenient. I was able to help my parents complete their returns. We are loyal customers since 2008.

High charges

I've used Turbotax for many years. They advertise that things are low priced and often use the word "free." The software IS fairly easy to use - and I'm usually confident that I'm paying my fair share of taxes and that my forms are accurate. However, TurboTax costs a lot for that convenience. I wish they would be more up front about how much it costs.
Pros: I moved

State instructions are poor and cost is high

State instructions are vague; I have no idea if i entered the data correctly based on the instructions. Plus, they charge you handsomely for the state download and then again to file the return electronically.

Very dissappointed

The first time I used Turbotax–many years ago–it seemed like a really good value. Now it feels like a bolted-together monster that just keeps dragging you through corridors of nonsense and frustration. I felt repeatedly tricked and gouged-first when I hit a brick wall just short of filing on the online version (which of course had led me to believe that this version was a good fit for my needs). Then, I wasted an hour trying to figure out how I could still file with TT and avoid wasting the time I'd invested (there's the sunk cost fallacy). So I paid around $50 for the desktop version...then $25 for Colorado...then another $25 filing fee. What the heck did I pay $50 for? Like I was going to do all this online and then print and mail my forms? I'll be shopping for a better option next year unless you can make it clear that you have heard feedback from users like myself and taken radical steps to save this product.

Procedures for entering foreign data are very cumbersome and confusing. This includes foreign interest, capital gains, taxes paid, reporting foreign accounts,.....etc. These procedures can be and should be simplified. This should not be difficult to do. But, in the end, they do work correctly.
