I will never purchase another brand than GE; I've had so many bad experiences with other brands, that I won't mention (Samsung- the worst). This is the perfect size for my space and is easy to clean. Couldn't be more pleased.

Newer is not better...An ok fridge for an ok price

I bought this to replace my old GE refrigerator which was of similar size and style and had lasted over 20 years. So, my review rating is based on the comparison between the two.
My old fridge had dual temperature controls, but this new one does not. I put a thermometer in both the fridge and freezer compartments and notice that the temp swing is often 4 - 5 degrees in the fridge, so in order to keep fresh food below 40 degrees the freezer has to run below well below 0 degrees.
The new fridge also runs noticeably louder than my old one.
The new fridge does not have a light in the freezer like my old one, and the LED light in the fridge area is not even half as bright as the old one with the incandescent lighting. (I was also disappointed to read that if/when this LED light goes out, you have to call a service tech to replace it. Why on earth would they make it with lights that you can't replace yourself? Paying at least $100 for a service call to replace a light on a $600 makes no sense, especially if the unit is a few years old when the light goes out.... I wonder if that is what manufacturer's are counting on, as many would opt to buy a new appliance instead of investing so much to repair a light. )
On the plus side, the fridge looks nice and the smooth finish on the door exterior and handles seem like they will be easy to clean. When the fridge was delivered, I needed to swap the door swing so that they opened from the right side. The instructions for this procedure were easy to follow, the only tool needed was a screwdriver, and the whole process took less than an hour.
