Great Looking Refrigerator

I bought this several months ago. I did a lot of research online. I really liked this refrigerator when I saw it on display. It caught my eye I like the size. I loved the inside when I opened the door. The one thing I did not like was the one control. I have it on the lowest setting because any higher and it freezes my top shelf in my refrigerator. Buy it does run great and the price was good. The adjustable shelves are great and the door shelves have great space. The one problem is that I have to break the ice up. I use ice trays & have a bin to store ice. I have to break up the ice in my bin daily. I do not like automatic ice makers. The vegetable bins are great and I love having a bin for my lunch meats. My freezer keeps ice cream great. I really do love my new refrigerator and the noise is level is good. I was using an old GE refrigerator (about 15 years old), before I purchased this one. It belonged to my Aunt she gave it to me when she got a new one. It was great and I loved the size of it. Everything I had in it fit in my new one. I love my new fridge and have had no major problems.

The accent color in my kitchen is Stainless Steel and the developer's choice for appliance was GE so naturally I was on the market for a stainless steel refrigerator but I did NOT want a French Door unit! I was excited to learn GE still makes the Freezer on Top models....but in the modern Stainless Steel finish! Perfect.

The freezer does not defrost itself well.

There is major ice build up in the freezer. We are new to this very humid region, coming from desert, so could it be a humidity thing? The freezer seems to be trying to defrost, it kicks on REALLY loud and vibrates the floor even. Still, so much ice the freezer door ices shut and several inches of icicles hang down.

Dangerous, avoid it

I bought this fridge about six weeks ago. It cooled off quickly and I got my food into it within a few hours. I noticed a lot of frost in the freezer and soft ice cream, so I put my appliance thermometers in both fridge (2/3 full) and freezer (2/3 full). After two hours, I zeroed out the thermometer readings. Since it is our spare fridge, I made sure no one opened it for 24 hours. when I went to check the readings, I saw that the freezer temperature fluctuated from -14 to 30 degrees. My fridge fluctuated from 24 to 41 degrees. I called the repairman and he looked at it and said that is normal and not to worry about it. the defrost cycle needs to heat up the temperature to keep frost from building up. Yes, it should rise, but a 44 degree fluctuation in 24 hours when the door never even opened? I don't think so. And no light in the freezer. Wow.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

So far, it has been fine....runs allot, more than the previous ge fridge. Has a high pitch squeel, that according to the book is normal. Also, no light in the freezer...my mistake for not checking
