Purchased for a vacation home, so wanted a no frills dependable unit. This seemed a bit pricier than other brands with similar features, but was immediately available from reputable dealer and have liked my other GE appliances. I'd say, "it is iwhat it is".
It is nice to be able to buy produce and know that it is going to remain in good condition and not spoil after a few days. My only problem has been that it runs a bit cold at the setting at which it came. So I need to turn it down a little as my eggs froze and initially when I first got it there was some frost in the freezer. After having the same fridge for over 35 years it really is great to have everything keep so fresh including things like cauliflower.
Nice glass shelves and storage bins, and a roomy freezer section (without ice maker). Door shelves, however, don't allow for storage of more than a few tall containers, and the unit is noisy. Control mechanism also intrudes into top shelf limiting storage of tall containers to the side of it.
We had older refrigerator repaired so often we gave the repairman a key to our house. We could and should have bought the G E a long time ago and saved a bundle on repairs on our other brand refrigerator.
This is a well made refrigerator. The door slots have a large enough rail to hold items in. (Several others had opening between the door shelf and the rail big enough to put a 2 liter bottle through. You can imagine what happens when you open the door fast.) It is also very quiet compared to other refrigerators we looked at. (We actually got a different one and it was noisy and the seal on the freezer wouldn't stick to the cabinet and the freezer completely frosted up.) The GE has not had any problems after install.
