Given the relatively small kitchen space allocated for the refrigerator, I was unable to go with the GE French door model I've purchased before. I find this SS model to be plenty accomodating and it looks good to boot. One minor complaint might be this particular model seems to make more noise than previous GE models I've owned.
We really like the look both inside and out and enjoy the freezer on the bottom. However, the compressor is noisy and so annoying. Imagine, in your home / apt., hearing the sound of someone popping bubble wrap! It's insane and the compressor seems to go on A LOT. Seriously, don't know what to do about this problem. Plan on calling the customer service number to inquire. I can't believe that a brand new refrigerator coiuld ever be this noisy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello CathAnn - Thanks for posting a review on your new refrigerator. We apologize for any inconvenience you've experienced. The new high efficiency compressor on modern refrigerators may run faster and longer than your previous refrigerator and generate more sound. You may also hear a high-pitched hum or pulsating sound while it is operating which is normal.
Please take a look at page 13 in your manual for normal operating sounds: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-60780-2.PDF
We hope this helps. Thanks, again, for your feedback.
I purchase this because of price and what it will be used for. It seems sturdy though I don't plan to overload it. The quality for the money seems pretty good. I checked out a few in its price range and choose this for th above mentioned reasons.Time will tell though.
