Fragile top

Despite being extremely careful while placing pots and pans, all it needed was a small glass bottle to break it.
See the picture attached. I mistakenly knocked the oil dispenser bottle. It fell over the cooktop and the edge broke and also cracked the top.
Call it hard luck or bad design.
in hindsight, a steal plate around the margin is a good idea to shield from petty incidents such as above.
Also a metal plate would fit more snug with counter top and prevent from any spillage from falling down in the cabinets below.

Beautiful but Scary Fragile

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was foolish and chipped the thin edge of the all-glass top when I accidentally hit the edge of when I was pounding two ice bags on the counter to separate them. The chip was ugly and a crack propogated all the way across the top. That top has all the controls so the repair was two-thirds the cost of a new unit. Now I notice that the top has a slight jiggle due to either it or the counter top cutout not being perfectly level. I’m terrified that it will break again.
I’m surprised that the timer can’t be used to turn off the stove or one element.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love this cooktop...amazing!!

Clean!

Great cooktop

This is a great cooktop and cooks fast. We replaced an electric cooktop because it was so slow and hard to keep clean. Not the case with this unit.

High pitch sound stresses pets

We had this for three weeks, then had to send it back. Our otherwise calm dog became hysterical everytime we used it. In fact, after 3 weeks, he didn't even want to come into the house. Although we could hear a soft high pitch sound when this was on, it apparently makes a higher sound that is painful to animals. Our dog RAN from the kitchen to the farthest part of the house, or begged franitcally to get out of the house when we used it. We had another brand previously that we had through two dogs, which gave them no problems. Our dog was so traumatised by it that he began stressing as soon as we pressed the on button.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
