Good enough

Simple enough. Inputs were well laid out, I understood the process the app was going through. I was missing a 1099R from and tried to wing it. App should say "If you have online access to your account GO DOWNLOAD THE FORM." I could have but didn't think about it, and didn't realize for IRA withdrawals you had better input the type (question 6). Not having the 1099R the app categorized it as early withdrawal penalty. I didn't hit that penalty until the end, at which point what I owed seemingly inexplicably leapt about 50%. I had to go digging through the forms to find Schedule 2, something I don't recall seeing before, with about the amount of the jump in owed. Realized to go download the 1099R, which had the entry for type, which I picked and voila jump was gone. But too much stress and panic for an error I could have handled better, had the app provided a gentle suggestion.
For decades now, the same issues persist: 1. Do the number crunching outside the software, on paper or other program or spreadsheet, then input the work into this template. Instead , the plugging and chugging should be more internal to this software. 2. Directions and on-screen prompts appearing AFTER you've done the work. 3. Ridiculous amounts of inputting the same routing/ABA/account numbers. 4. Scrolling all over to see the entire page, or to see the prompts.
I have used 40 year straight line Depreciation for over 40 years. It requires me to edit each and every one. To file it properly I have to override everything. It also generated errors, and each time I overrode is an error. That is over 250 errors for filing correctly.
I have been using this software for decades. Unfortunately, I will look elsewhere for 2022. This software can't do Premium Tax Credit calculation with self-employed health insurance. Because PTC rules REQUIRE a change to modified AGI, I have to override an entry in your worksheet. Therefore, I'm no longer able to e-file either my federal or state return. I will be looking for other software if you can't fix this.
I paid for State Electronic Filing Fee. My Electronic Filing was rejected, but I didn't receive a refund although the filing was never forwarded to the State.
I think the whole thing went well. Although the IRS rejected it because they said my AIG for 2020 didn't match and I was looking at my 2020 AIG and it was exactly the same. So I have to mail it to the IRS.
I have used block tax software since i had a 486sx running windows 3.1 Its always been pretty good, but this year it was very buggy, had major issues with updates not loading. It telling me to do one thing then telling me i couldnt do that. When i would click on a link for help it would tell me im not online. When i was. Hope next year is better.
