Not being able to file a tax return on April 15 was too stressful. I began looking to other tax companies to complete my daughters return because I wasn’t sure if I would be able to file on time.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Everything worked very well until I wanted to input a foreign pension. The program would not allow a blank EIN which is what the IRS wants since foreign companies do not have an EIN.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
Program walks you through the ordeal of filing with clear directions. There is a minimum of up-selling and software bloat. Those features outweigh the last-minute server crash -- barely. Any recommendation must include a warning about the crash.
The software overall is pretty solid and easy to use. I've been using for about 10 years now and it has worked well. Trying to file electronically on tax day this year was a nightmare, however. I kept getting a "cannot connect" message, I assume because their servers were overloaded. When it did go through, it was rejected by the IRS, as a filing code from last year was in an old worksheet (and it should not have been - I didn't file electronically last year) and I couldn't delete this filing code. I deleted the old (last year) worksheet, but the return would still not go through, so I had to print it out and mail it instead.
