I’ve used H&R Block software for several years and I mainly continue using it because I understand its quirks and limitations. Two issues stand out to me. 1) The 1099-R input form for Federal retirees is not complete - you can’t add all the info on the 1099-R - so I always have to find a work-around for that. 2) I have rental property and input screens for that are such that expenses can easily be double counted if you’re not careful. I recommend the software to people with fairly simple returns, but caution those with more complex finances.

I'd expect the Premium version to cover all my needs but unfortunately for sine items, like schedule K, I had to do my own research to get my taxes done. I'd expect the Premium version to cover all aspects. The CA state software has similar issues. I plan to switch to the competitor next year to see if it's any better.

Every year it get harder to find the correct places. Ivan fill out a hand written form in lest then 25% of the time it takes to use your program.
