I had to buy the state software 3 times (once with the premium software) then once in the app, then once as a standalone purchase to get the state package to run on my computer. The software has gotten worse year over year.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I won’t be purchasing this program next year after using it for many decades. Program problems were abundant. One of the tax files was corrupted and totally useless. One had to be done on a completely different tax program because this program was not updated to allow for efiling. I no longer consider this a viable option for filing taxes. I consider it unreliable and a waste of my money.

Easy to use this audit free tax software. I have been using this tax software for more than 20 years without any problems or being audited by IRS. If the recent Ai built-in can be smarter, can response to my questions and pinpoint error on my tax files rather than simple link to IRS's resources would get 5-star from me.

Always a pleasure to use. I believe that form 8958 could be automated by having the user check which income is community property income.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

H& R program is Compatible with win10 and turbo tax online version sucks ( only turbo tax available) . Ive used turbo tax for the last 7 years. This year I bought turbo again and almost completed my fairly basic tax return when it would go no further and demanded more money to upgrade even though advertise to work with my tax situation. Turbo tax appears to demand upgrade on several occasions fur me to finish the return. I found it cheaper and better just to ditch turbo tax and go with H&R. No issues on download, no issues in return completion. Turbo Tax lost me as a customer and I will never return. H&R, your now my goto for tax returns. Based upon other complaints with turbo tax, my issue not uncommon.
Pros: Easy to import documents
I would recommend this to a friend!

I was a TurboTax user. HR Block got the job done, but it was more confusing and often use tax jargon that the average person would not understand. One example -- I was not able to figure out how to get a credit for foreign taxes paid on one of my mutual funds. It presented me with confusing choices and in the end I gave up. In past years, TurboTax was a lot easier to use and I had no problems claiming a credit.
