After 25 years of being a customer, getting to know and use your tax prep software has gotten pretty straight forward and the results seem to be good. I like the fact that the product structure and methodology seem to remain consistent. The Help feature has gotten better and the look-up to find a place in the return has also improved. The file naming and nomenclature is the worst part of the program. Your own software can't even find on my computer where you've stored the previous years' return which is a real PROBLEM!!

I've trusted this software to help complete my returns for more than two decades. I'm probably pushing it, and maybe should use a CPA for a much higher cost. During the past two years, my experience has been plagued with items in the final verification and review that seem to be software glitches.

Poor Imports, Confusing Rental Property Workflow,

The import 1099 forms did not list major US banks including Bank of America and Merrill (which were included in prior years). It asks me to manually enter values from last year's tax forms - meaning that it failed to import everything from last year. AI feature is a limited ChatGPT that knows nothing of their actual software and cannot fill in nor direct you how to enter a specific tax situation (e.g. I needed to enter a one time tax: home improvement increasing asset basis, to be depreciated over time). Needed to figure out add asset vs. edit existing, improvement vs. property and basis depreciation worksheet and why depreciation showed zero initially. I also had to struggle with too many ambiguous tax terms without context (e.g. active participation in rental, net lease, original basis vs. improvement basis)
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Can't give a 5 star as the premium product doesn't cover my K1's completely and I had to file my MA return by mail since there were depreciation differences between my U.S, and MA returns.
