I switched to H&R this year after being with TurboTax for over 20 years. Relatively easy to learn and work with. Will buy it again.

Reasonably easy to use. (1) Please modify to increase font size of text, both on the screen and on printouts. As we age, our vision needs help. (2) Software would not accept the hyphen in my city name: Winston-Salem. This is unacceptable; there are several other US cities/towns with a hyphen in the name. The.Hyphen.Is.Part.Of.The.Name! (3) Printouts (eg worksheets) need a date and page number; also, these pages should have more top and left margin for better readability

You use to be better last year. This year I could not download Merrill Lynch dividends and 1099-B forms. Also the software is stupid for example I am over 62 but did not take Social Security and it keeps asking me upon review why I did not show my SS income. It is ZERO, I said this during the interview!! Next year I will probably use some free software.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Generally happy with it, but there are a few places where the explanation for the item merely restated it rather than explaining it. Those need to be fixed.

I used H&R block for the last 20 years. Always the premium because I have a rental property. But this year I sold some US treasury notes and CD's. the 1099 B form showed a discount price plus the interest on the bond. and the software did not know what to do about a discount price. I use the help and the explanation did say to enter the discount price. Then I used the AI help and what a joke, AI could provide any assistance on what to do. The same applies to CD bought at discount. The purpose of buy software every year is to make it easy when you have "complex issues" done for you. If you have to change the basis of the Note and then create another entry as Interest for the note, then you are doing things that you have to research to complete the return properly. It took me awhile to figure out what how to do right so if the software can't do this automatically maybe it's time to purchase a better software program. There is no reason to be aggravated while completing your taxes. I gave a rating of 3 because of the previous years but it should it been a 1. I hope Turbo can retrieve my previous depreciation and import my 2025 data.
