I've been using H&R Block for many years with no complaints and I might have to change to turbo next year. It was the worst. I have a few rental properties and the tax program would randomly change the numbers. It overrides the numbers using values from other properties and had to continuously change the numbers back. Had to waste a lot of time to continuously review to see if it messed things up. I was hoping the updates would correct the problems but it wasn't fixed. It was never like that in previous years. So what happened?
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

It's been difficult in some areas to get from one thing to another, but overall I trust H&R Block software.
Pros: Maximizes refund

I bought their top level version. Too bad for me! The question prompts were vague, and confusing. When I tried to get help, the answers were not very detailed. They didn't really clarify any issues for me. The artificial intelligence assistance was a joke. Either use TaxACT for free, or TurboTax for pay. I'm going to hire an account in next year!

I've been using H&R Block software since 2014. I very much appreciate its structured interview style. However, asking questions of the AI tax help software is less than satisfactory. I needed help with Form 8829, Home Office, but the software was not designed to provide detailed answers, so I ended up researching the relevant IRS Publication myself. I hope the AI software is better next year. Nevertheless, the basic software is really excellent and provides safeguards against many potential errors. I was surprised that it guided me against errors that an experienced CPA I consulted didn't readily know the answers to.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Software does not support basic forms like K1 or gift forms like 709. Very difficult to override entries. The AI assistant is a complete failure.
