I’ve used HR Block software for several years now and am generally happy with it. It could be more user friendly regarding some of the inputs and if there is anything slightly unusual there’s no way to add comments or missing forms.
Pros: Easy to prepare

I have used HR block for the past 7 years. Switched from turbo tax due to price differential. Both worked well but I am happy with HR. So far no problems with IRS and I assume it is because the program is bullet proof.
Pros: Easy to prepare

While I as able to finish my tax return, the software is not very user friendly and lacks some functionality. I switched from Turbo Tax and will be switching back. The most disappointing thing was how poorly the software handle taking in uploads from my investment account. It was seamless with Turbo Tax, but HR didn’t handle the data well and I had to click through 69 “errors” that were not errors, they were descriptions of fractional share sales that the software apparently did not like. In addition the “help” descriptions while I am sure are accurate are complicated explanations unless you have some background in tax or accounting.
